Except minmatar. They are too washed out at the moment.

Play Eve with the lights out then see how dark it gets.

You only realise you life has been a waste of time, when you wake up dead.

Try glasses.

I just got my first pair of progressives and it is amazing the amount of detail I was missing.

Well said. I care less about visuals and more about functionality and a solid game.

This is how a standard General discussion post goes

OP-"I have a complaint or idea"
everyone else - "Your dumb, its fine"

Anyways, I do like the darkness of Eve. But I always like change in Eve. Weapons in RL are really bright and flashy, so adding more effects to the weapons is not a bad thing. Also maybe they could add a spot light on your ship like a giant search light that has 50k distance.

One of the main reasons for the V3 update is to allow for better lighting effects, which will be done after V3 is complete on all in space objects.

There are other reasons, but that is one of the biggies. It is also one of the reasons by many of the new color schemes are less reflective and more of a matt finish.

The goal is to make the lighting on the hulls look better afterwards than they did in the past, along with reflected light from planetary bodies, moons, and weapons effects looking much more natural. We just haven't gotten to that stage yet.

Also I am quite happy with the level of detail and its visibility. Actually I think for the most part Eve is TOO bright.

Indeed, the stars are way too bright even from great distances of over 100 AU. They need to tone that **** down.

Hey, hey, guys. I had a novel idea.

What if the game featured an alternate environment that acted as a foil to dark, gloomy outer space? You know, something like a brightly-lit space station. And we can go in and walk around in, get this, our pilot avatars.

Be cool, right?

What Ranger 1 said. I remember a Dev saying the same thing last time someone brought this up. Basically - the lighting model isn't finished. It will get better / brighter.

The ships used to be more brightly coloured, before the new v3 shader thing. Gleaming steel is a lot more visible than very dark-grey metal.

Yeah, Eve ships used to be a lot brighter, and I liked it better that way. Amarr actually had golden hulls instead of muddy yellow, etc.

CCP makes a big deal out of new visible missile launchers, but the fact is, I can barely see any detail on my ships when undocked, because EVE is so dark. The galaxy is poorly lit. That may be realistic 4-10 AU from the local sun, but it makes for a visually boring game, especially when the detail is there, just not visible.

Other computer games work fine for me, without me needing to tweak the settings of my monitor, so it just seems silly that all the visual detail is lost unless I bother to adjust the settings just for this one game.

I support new stuff is way too dark.

Space is very well lit by stars - there is not enough stuff to reflect light from. This is why you get impression of dark space.

Bring a reflective armor surface and it should be excessively bright.

This post sums up why the 'best' work with DCM inc.

WARP DRIVE makes eve boring

really - add warping align time 300% on gun aggression and eve becomes great again

Lighting is something that the art department say they're going to work on after the V3 shaders stuff is out of the way.
