two new "space-sims" are coming

The first one is Star Citizen, with Squadron 42 as a game-in-game, more information here: http://www.robertsspaceindustries.com/

The Game is crowdfunded and made by the creator of the Wing Commander Series, Privateer and Freelancer, described as an open world Space sim with a realistic physics model and huge scale from very small to very big, it looks like it will be an MMO, it advertised with a player driven economy.

The second one is Valves new IP, Stars of Barathrum, some concept art can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=emwtvgthtrw&pxtry=1

hardly anything is known about this one, its described as a very open world with loads of possibilities. valve is known for great single player games with even greater multiplayer modes, but not for MMOs

i personally can't wait, competition in the open world and spaceship genre is something eve really needs, also freelancer was a fantastic game and i have loved every single valve game i have played so far. good times ahead. !

I want some new space sims as bad as anyone, but slow your roll Space Cowboy, until the games are on the market, there is no heat.

I'm a nerd, you can check my stats!! Skilling Int/Mem at 45 sp per minute is how I mack!     I'm like a lapdog, all bark no bite.

it will take years for them to be as polished as eve... i don't see why ccp would have to work double shifts because of them :)

a good example are theme park based mmorpgs like wow. one after another failed because there is already a polished game out.

I see some good things, especially from the Chris Roberts game. I look forward to trying them out in a few years.

If anyone can pull off a good space sim, Chris Roberts will be the one to do it.

Also Taikodom and BP's Nexus Conflict are coming out as well.

I personally do not enjoy Fighter Jets in space and very few games can pull off a mix of smaller and bigger ships without making the big ships like you need 5 people to fly or be leader of a clan sort of deal. Nexus is made by the failed Black Prophecy.

Not so much EVE Competition for me personally until they come out with a game where BC sized ships are common that isn't STO.

As Polished as EvE? Wow, just wow...Ive been playing since well almost the beginning, we still have bugs that date back that far. Eve will never win the polished award from anyone that is even close to sane. Sorry i love the game too, but i cant lie to myself about that statement...

I feel a disturbance in the force, ISD is nearby

OMG CHRIS ROBERTS IS BACK !

And he ... gained weight ! *lol*

Graphics look heavily Wing Commander oriented,
but that's nothing that makes me wonder.

This might not end well for EVE ONLINE...

yea people said the same thing about infinity: quest for earth when it was announced and 5 years later it's still vaporware like these titles.

when they enter closed beta, we might notice.

All these games will most likely, the way our economy is going, going to play on safe. In short they'll copy wow one way or the other, then fail because people are getting tired of wow clones.

Also, concept art is as far from reality as it is from here to the moon. On a bicycle.

Utterly wrong, this game is in no way polished. The one very big thing it is would be broken.

I would take a guess and say that Valve has funds only CCP can dream of. Therefore if they wanted to....expect a game to be created that is better than Eve.

I love this game however but never ever underestimate another workshop thinking that Eve is the end game for space based MMOs because that's when something comes along and kicks its a$$. CCP have very clearly lost all passion for the game.

Yes the new videos are nice with CCP verysmallguy being rather funny "bounty hunting" but CCP continue to NOT fix things that we have been asking for a very long time.

Just watched the video for RSI and yeah the graphics most seriously kick Eves behind in truth....real time rendered and you can see its got tessellation built in, probably directX10 possibly 11?

Star Citizen will be a very different type of game. I'll probably play it, because it's planning to make use of the new Oculus Rift VR headset, but it won't replace Eve.

The other game I don't know anything about.

Bioware/EA/SWTOR prove that throwing a lot of money at a project doesn't necessarily make it good.
