possible fix for Closed Socket error.

I too have been experiencing socket disconnects for months now. It seems to mostly happen when someone else is on the network , usually streaming movies or downloading one. It is quite random but when it happens I get continues dc's for as long as I try to reconnect, every 3-5 minutes. Simply cannot play the game.

One client, Century-link dsl ip, nothing else running..

FYI: I was having this issue, and it was preventing me from even logging in. Disabling "Resource caching" in Settings fixed it for me.

I have this socket is closed porblemm sinceInferno....no matter what doing, mining, mission running, just travelling even siting in station...multiaccounts or single account. Sometimes it does not happen for hours (dedicated miner), sometimes it is within a singel minute. And it is geting worse. Eve is now unplayable in the way I prefer.
My petition resulted in a load of advices to diagnose my PC, connections, provider...and in my corp there are 4 other people, at different locations with different providers etc..
So as a result, it must be a server problem. This is a major kick in the ass for paying customers.

Most annoying was the reply from ccp that they would NOT support multiaccount...even as they run a commercial about power of2 ...this is a slap in the face.

To offer just excuse for a product not working, surely hoping for the customer to be not fit enough to disapporve it, is far below of what to expect by CCP. Creating a great game and not being able to run a reliable infrastructure?
With a real product in the real world, like even selling hot dogs you would get serious trouble by officals...shame on you,ccp.

My account payed time runs out in 3 days, I quit 7 of them, keeping just one until the problem is fixed. 100€ each month lost for you.

I'm also getting socket disconnects. I have never had them before Inferno.

Should I don't log in EVE everything works fine either with my PC or DSL connection.

I'm not using VPN or Steam.

getting socket closed errors here myself (x2 box when it happens, 1 with cancel etc and lower box with just ok ) been happening since the last patch. can play max of like 15 mins before getting disco'd with error. sometimes less.

After running ping plotter watching all the steps to ccps hut I see that one part of my data packets get lost betwann RAM and router and the other half right at ccps door (their own settings do track this only showed the last step). So, to me, it looks like: client software´s fault. But let us see, what ccp customer service is saying, it is still weekend, petition still open (the one about the loss of my noctis due to the disco was repelled after 3 h...II am thinking about reporting customer suport for using bots) and since when should a service company work at the time the most customers are around!

Hey guys i got a temporary fix for this Blink (it worked for me socket closed 1 million times per day) wants a free plex now CCP Twisted

Well while playing let a streaming application run in the background

Getting the same problem, its damn annoying. I multibox a few accounts, either 1 or 2 drop and the other 2 accounts are ok, or they all drop.
The worse part is what when I see one of my chars flying away from the fleet because he has had a closed socket. I can't then close that client to restart it. I have to wait until I get the restart\quit option to come up, which can take anything from 1 to 5 minutes to appear.
Its only started happening since updates to mining vessels, but the closed socket error is now happening 3-4 times per day. (used to be every other day)

I am also suffering with the socket closed problem, been going on for over a week now. It's getting annoying and taking away the enjoyment of playing Eve Online because I don't know when the next socket closed is going to happen, so I don't run any lvl 4 missions because of it.
Anyway here is a plotter log for CCP to have a look at as you can see at hop 8 there is complete packet loss.

I also get the "minor" bug of the double socket closed box.

I had this problem with a character unable to log in game, but not with any other account.

I just logged in another char on that account and the problem is gone..

not sure if that could help with those who get this after some time spent in game!

the socket issue has happened a lot to me. but it's never caused an issue as far a loss till last night. I had started warping out of my corp's system from station, direct jump tho gate, and the socket closed on me. I restarted to find i was in a pod instead of my drake.

I cant even log in anymore, i get it the instant the station starts appearing!

ANy known fix yet????

I have been receiving this error on my laptop quite often.

Could I maybe suggest that these problems are caused by underspec'd machines? As i know my laptop does not technically meet the system requirements for EVE.

I would also like to add that in one case I have received 4 pop-ups at once. Also once it closes the socket, my login screen displays "Checking Status" next to the server and player count and requires me to restart my laptop before I can log in again.

On a side note if I Alt-Tab or exit EVE, my colors are all messed up and have to either change the desktop resolution or Alt-Cntrl-Del to revert the colors back to nomal.

hey,

im having the same problem. Had it a few years back as well. cant remember how it was fixed or if it just went away by itself.

i do remember a lot of ccp saying 'it aint our fault' which is what im expecting from this.

If i have two or more accounts open, not all of them will close. Internet connection does not drop.

Im from UK with Sky as provider. Never had any problems really.

im hoping CCP can come bk with an answer other than 'its ur isp' because it seems strange so many ppl from diff countries are havin the same problem all at the same time....

plz ccp, make me love u again like i did when i 1st joined this game!!

Just happened to me (for a 3rd time the last couple weeks). However it also nuked my entire gateway. I lost phone, cable and internet on all machines in the house. Now I've only been playing a month and a half or so but this is a deal-breaker for me. I'm physically disabled so having having my phone nuked by a video game and thus preventing me from 911 is not an option. So now that the drama queen card is played I will say again that I would happily pay a sub for years to come if I could trust that error was resolved. It took me 2 hours this last time to get things up and running again. My procedure(s) included, admin cmd prompt ipconfig release flush dns renew commands, soft reset of the router/gateway, and finally shutting down all machinery related to the router/gateway and hard resitting everything by throwing the circuit breaker for the room.

I was able to restore cable and phone this last way but not internet... until the first computer I turned on was the one where the 'Socket Closed' error happened. PLEASE NOTE: The only time this has ever happened in all my years on online it has been playing this game. CCP may claim that the problem is not on their end however I can only ask them to prove it to me. As much I enjoy this game I have no problems not playing it. All my searches have turned up facts about it being 4 year old+ problem with no solutions (other searches seem to imply it is unique to Inferno).

I'll check back in a couple days (my skill queue has about 5 days left) and I'm happy to provide additional information but seriously there is an issue here.

Same Problem here. I get Closed Socket Errors randomly. Regadless of how many clients i was running (1-4).

The last time it occured was at aprox. 8 AM EVE.
Only Eve was affected. I'm not using Wifi at all.

Same problem here, random socket closed / connection lost problems since Oct 1. Absolutely sure nothing to do with local ISP, etc. cause I had multiple remote ssh and scp sessions at the time, plus other remote logins, none of them affected at all when the TQ disconnects happened. And I happened to work on them while the TQ shut down, so should have noticed connection problems.

I have been having the same problems. Usuualy i only disconnect one of my 3 accounts. Contacted SKY (ISP) today bout a seperate problem and mentioned this to them. They said it may relate to problem i called for did a few checks. Fixed intial problem but could not find any other issues on their end. Had another disconnect about 10mins ago.
