http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Agents#Agent_Levels

Check the Skills for Agent Runners below for tips how to get there faster.

You can also do COSMOS missions (one time missions) for rapid faction standings. Don't take them unless you know you can complete them.

The wiki doesn't tell about the agent finder yet. The agent finder should be somehwere on the neocom and makes it really easy to find new agents.

Not sure if wiki tells you the need for social skills but they help, and find a place where many station have lvl 1 or 2 agents and go to every agent (or faction type only), and blitz missions all at once then rinse and repeat youll have lvl 3's in no time, lvl 4's in a week (depending on play time per day) also look up eve survival dot com for mission tips.

^^ This.

You simply need to grind through missions to raise you standings, though the connections and diplomacy skills are useful.

One suggestion is that on the mission offer screen there is an icon beside the location for the mission.
If that icon is for one of the 4 main factions, I suggest declining the mission. You can decline one mission every 4 hours for each agent without loss of standings.

as the guy above noted.

http://www.eve-survival.org is a wonderful site. (click the 'mission reports' link and find the mission you're doing for some help.

Agree with the last poster

But one other thing - stick to the same NPC Corp.

It is the standing with that corp that allows access to the next level agent

That depends what you want from your loyalty points mainly and what agents you want to 'unlock' and where. It's good to have a cluster of high level agents nearby just in case your regular agent keeps giving you crappy faction kill missions. Some NPC corps such as Federation Navy offer mainly combat mods, navy ships, faction ammo in their LP store while a corp like Roden Shipyards has mainly industrial stuff in theirs.

Yeeee!

Agree that you should stick to the same corp, however once you increase your standings with the State (Gallente, Caldari etc) then you will be able to run that level missions with any NPC corp within that state. Granted it takes a lot longer to achieve this though.

Agent Finder is acessed from 2 places

Neocom - People & Places:Agents Tab (at the bottom).
Station Services:Agents Tab (at the bottom) when docked in a station.

You can check/uncheck several filtering options
Agents Location - losec, nulsec, hisec
Agents Department - Security, Mining, etc
Agents Availablitiy
Agents Level

Training Social Skills helps with
access to better agents
improved agent rewards (ISK & LP)
improved standing gains

Always remember as you raise your standings with 1 faction, another will start to dislike you
Amarr - Minmatar
Caldari - Gallente
are the 2 main groupings for standing loss

Just make sure you have a ship thats over powered for the mission so you can maximize dps over tank.

Now im not telling you to not tank your ship. But you can use Mission survival, to check spawn locations, rat damage and agro triggers to minimize risk.

Training Connections, + Social Will help with this.

The blood stained stars epic arc will help you with one groups standing.

Also remember those career agent tutorials you ran? You can run those in two other locations for your faction. Doing these in all three locations can boost your standings as well.

Just make sure you chain those missions together back to back, focus on running them with the minimal amount of effort. Dont salvage, if you can blitz a mission by just running in grabing something and warp out do it. Only need to kill one rat? kill the rat in question and warp out dont bother with his escorts. Use every short cut to cut the time spent in these level ones and twos as they are of little value to you other then standing gain. lvl 4's are what your shooting for they tend to have the best rewards when done properly.
