What happened to this? It's been almost a year. Have they decided to not change the UI?

Tis a shame too, they make WiS optional for all of the FiS crybabys and yet they can't make that UI change optional for all of those who might like the change.

I liked it personally but there was some serious whinging in the forums about lost pixl nonsense. It needs to come back - or a decent alternative.

That UI change does look pretty cool, I'd support this being included

This was specifically cacnelled as beta testers disliked it and finally carbon UI concept came along.

Expect more carbon stuff in the near future in space instead of just your holopanels in your quaters.

But Ive been paying attention and it seems they're caught back up to rebuilding to the current UI thus a foundation and will then try to expand from there.

Cabon UI
New Overview
New Fonts

are just some of the recent things on Sisi that suggest an overhaul is comming.

This counts as FIS right?

I usally write one of these and then change it a month later when I reread it and decide it sounds stupid.

Yes.

Remember all those neat looking UIs you seen in recent in space trailers?

That is what carbon UI can do.

Imagine when you look at a ship it throws out a flyout of not only what the target is but what guns are loaded onto it.

Or when you pull up the fittings of the ship you are curretnly flying instead of being shown a window with a copy of your ship in the fitting ring the fitting ring spawns around your ship instead.

I'd be happy with just being able to resize stuff.
I don't want my cap/shield/armour indicator thingy taking up so much space, and why do I need such huge locked target icons?

Just give me the ability to resize and adjust things the way I want them. Let me decide what's important for me to see rather than having these dirty great icons etc taking up all the space.
I'd really like to play at a much higher res so this wouldn't be a problem, but alas my laptop doesn't want to know about it.

And while we're at it, why the hell do I HAVE to have corp and alliance chat, why can't I close that like any other useless chat window? Yeah I know I can minimize it etc, but I never use it, why should I be forced to have it open?

This is probably why they just redid fronts,
People dont realize that letters in eve are two poly's for each one and are 3d objects which is why its such a PITA to change it.

I agree with what you said.

Also, I hope it is true what people said. The small changes that we see are the precursor to a much needed overhaul on the UI system.

CBA to find the Dev post on the old forums, but basically the new UI was the "spare time pet project" of a single dev, not an official CCP thing with a whole team and all. Hence, when the negative reviews came out, it was a dropped with a shrug and an "oh well" since it wasn't really backed by the development teams who'd have gone back to take another look at it again.

don't remind me, it was easily the best feature in the past 4 years that founds it's way onto sisi. :(
all it had to do was go vertical, and it would of been the best addition to eve i could of ever hoped for.

uuugh this one really boils my blood. If you took the current bar we have now, and the new bar, *which can shrink down* it took up LESS pixels. Also the bottom of the eve UI is already taken up by tabs. Any window you lose gets docked in the bottom. Taking up vertical space.

The new UI took all those tabs and shoved them into a customizable UI shell, that should be scaled down.

And then the fact they CONFIRMED it would be able to go vertical, meaning it would of saved even MORE screen space. But even without thta, i repeat, it was 40% the height of the current UI, even with it going across the screen, it took up less pixels. and saved you the horror or having tabs on the bottom.

Other features confirmed by dev posts were plug-in-able apps, like a drone controller, or over heat control. Any sort of stuff was programmable for it. It opened the path for user made UI content within a shell that ccp could control.

but no f all that, it had THREE PAGES OF WHINES. take it down! quick!

It's the same as the new forums, they are obviously better, especial to someone who doesn't play eve, but there pages of hardcore whiners, get the project canceled.

Why did it work on the UI and not the forums? FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Maybe if we made FOUR pages of whines asking for it back we can have it again?

I liked it, despite the bugs it had. With a little polish it would have been brilliant.

CCP didn't cancel it because of whiners. CCP canceled it because it sucked. It was a "development dead end" was their official reason. It also was Bad™ UI design, reduced functionality, and reduced screen real estate. It deserved to die a more violent and embarrassing death than it got.

Maxim 6. If violence wasn’t your last resort, you failed to resort to enough of it.
