Active tanking bonuses, a straight up and down vote.

Should active tanking bonuses (on none marauders) be replaced (with other bonuses, whether tanking or none tanking related?)

The extra tank is needed, thats not to say that a resist bonus for the respective tank type wouldn't be bad. Resists would help passive or active, however you wish to fly it. Marauders are all but useless for lv5's and incursions because active tanks, are bad.

Example: If vargur had a resist bonus instead, it would be better then a mach for incursions.

simple fix would be to enhance the repper bonus to include incomming rr for ships that get bonuses to repair mods...

so i guess the answer is yesandno?

No, replace with a resist bonus, I proposed this in another thread a few weeks ago.

Aside from T3's and Marauders it is pretty pointless on other ships. Limits their functionality, all ships aside from specialist ships should be able to be used in a number of ways.

This is why we have FOTM ships all the time...

Do you think people would use Drakes in PVP if they had a boost bonus? No
Would AHAC's work if they had a boost bonus? No
Harbinger... erm no
Hyperion - Totally useless in PVP
Maelstrom - Mostly useless in PVP except for people who like to press F1 only.
Eos / Astarte? Why would you active tank a command ship in PVP fleets.

Buffer tank = Good for PVE and PVP, Boost bonus = useless for PVP (at the moment anyway as its too blobby).


Open's up more possibilities.

I say yes. But on marauders as well. A resist bonus is better anyways, because even if you have a local rep. the effective amount you rep is more because you'll take less damage.

I've tried this on several pve ships and the result is pretty much the same. The resist bonuses are almost always better.

YES, change it to +5% resists per lvl

Edit: why not 7.5% armor per level, numbers should be run to see the effectiveness of those different choices but in real game rather than some calculations with (good) formulas running with patched programs leading to my railguns actually being very good ...

resist bonus sounds bad for active tanking as it treads well into the 'buffing' tank territtory to the point you'll homengize both.

How about ammo for the reppers that doubles or more thier effectiveness based on quality?

Switching the bonus out seems to be like running the white flag up the pole as far as active tanking in PvP goes.

Rather a white flag and fun times from there on in than how it is at the moment.

Either that or create some more ships with similar roles and give pilots the choice.

Buffer gang with logis will get the crap out of you with no effort, all they have to do is neut you and wait, please tell me you can tank 5min with your ubber skills being under neuts and focus fire I or some other will not believe you.

Active tanking MAY perhaps find some success in roams where you find individuals with no logistical support at all or are in very inferior numbers, even then depends of the fc and how those guys are able to protect logistics and fire you up.

You can't convince "normal" people active armor tanking is fine when someone with half a brain can figure by him self the most cap hungry and pg requirements repair system, coupled with the weapons system requiring even more power grid and cap to shoot just make it non viable in fleets or gangs, the small niche of 2 or 3 men gang or high sec wd's is not representative of the game and how fine this system is.

1st high sec is not an example
2nd small gangs are not an example since definition of small gang goes from 2 to ----->?? -well with 3 you cna already have logistics or not, with 10 you can have logistics or not

So, say that active armor tank is fine in small gangs is just a lie.

Yes, I see a lot of armor active tanking ships on your (alliance) KB losses. Sry capitals and supers/titans don't count Lol
