Blueprint tiericide

Taking into account what CCP Fozzie is doing with ship rebalancing, I was wondering if this has been planned. BPOs should cost roughly the same for a given ship size, while also reducing or increasing the price of the ship they build. A quick and possibly effective way to apply tiericide to ship blueprints would be to base the material costs on the actual mass of the ship.

Ships that cost roughly the same to build will help reinforce the idea that there are no top performers, and that all ships are equally useful; however, even though this sounds alright for T1 frigates and cruisers, which do not really have large market price differences between hulls, battlecruisers and battleships are another story. For these ships, total mass is roughly the same, but market price differences are enormous.

Having said this, I think CCP will always find a way to cause a storm of tears make everyone happy, should they do this.

Would you be ok with frigs that cost roughly the same to build?
Would you be ok with cruisers that cost roughly the same to build?
Would you be ok with BCs that cost roughly the same to build?
Would you be ok with BSs that cost roughly the same to build?

Rage on...

yes please. preferably rebalanced for them to be around the middle ground in price for the ship class or a little lower.

there will always be price variation due to demand. look at the price of drakes due to CFC doctrine or the price of zealots when NCdot lose a fleet. This will effect the BPOs and BPCs of those ships as demand spikes or drops for the ship it's self.

Yes, but those variations are not arbitrary, while price variations due to tier levels are. With blueprints that need similar amounts of materials to build different ships inside the same size category, prices will start to even out, although, obviously, supply and demand will play its part too.

Currently, the Rifter, Slasher, Punisher, Executioner, Tormentor, Condor, Merlin, Atron, and Incursus have all been rebalanced to use:

  • 13k-22k Trit
  • 2k-11k Pye
  • 2k-4k Mex
  • 100-500 Iso
  • small amounts of a few high ends

Take a look at old build requirements or the current requirements of the Bantam, Navitas, and Burst. The balancing is already happening.

Oh, really? That's cool. I wouldn't know because I'm no industrialist, but as the prices have not changed much, I though requirements were still the same.

Check the 6 month prices on an empire's T1 Interceptor. The Slasher in Rens has gone from 20k to 300k. (Makes me glad I built about 2000 of them before the price jump).
