I noticed many people have different ideas on what they would like with the upcoming POS overhaul. I have seen suggestions ranging from deployable ships like Rorqs to bases that cloak in deadspace while its operator is away. Here is what I would personally like to see.

The ability to build cities or "stations" in deep space somewhat.

In my vision, each "POS" would still have a CPU and PWG limit like anything in EVE, but they would have the ability to transfer objects between each-other provided they are connected and "routed". Each POS would be able to be deployed and attach its connected modules at 0 meters minimum from another POS, containers, POCOs, or certain other LCOs. Ships would be able to get very close before being bumped away.

Warping and jumping within say, 10km of a POS would be disabled if the system detects the facility as "closed"; provided it detects you as "inside" and not sitting outside of it. Ships can fire from the inside of the facility but if the system detects a complex of POSs to be "closed" than anything inside can't be targeted from the "outside". This also means that you can bust down someone's front door and attack from within. Anchorable guns would be able to be shot at individually and be disabled like modern POS guns, regardless of being open or closed.

My vision of my dream POS complex would consist of a few dozen of them. A whole city in space all sealed off that's the size of a station. Say, there are "roads" which are hollow sections throughout my complex; They are designed for ships to fly through. Each intersection of roads-end would have an anchored container to maintain unity and the ability to navigate through the roads. Say, I keep a freighter behind a "password shield" in the hangar section to move goods in and out of the makeshift station. There would be many other bays protected by a "password shield" in the hangar section for my corpies to park in. It would even have a POS designed to pipe goods around the facility, mainly maintaining an even distribution of fuel through all the towers.

Say, I build this giant structure around a POCO, with a freighter bay next to it. There would be a "docking module" that ships enter when ejected from inside the area. I set it to orient the ships pointing out an "undocking hole" that is pointing to a gate or station. Maybe, one of the POSs would automatically pump goods out of the POCO and into the silo next to the freighter, or even in to the freighters themselves. Of course, all openings would be protected with password shields on mine.

Now I'm not an industrialist, so on to defense! I would place some of the "roads" sticking out of the station a bit but still sealed to prevent intrusions. Those exo-roads would have a dreadnaught sitting at the end of them, with a smaller corridor system between them for shuttles/pods to get through fast. Automated defense modules would launch fighters that it yanks out of the pipe system out vents in the structure to attack anything aggressing a POS, any attached modules/POSs, or anything else it is assigned to defend.

Not very much use compared to a normal station, and something of this scale would probably eat tens of billions of ISK per month, but it would just be awesome to have the ability to do something like this. I'm not saying anything like this is likely to be implemented, but one can dream.

Yes, that is true. I'll admit, having this massive superstructure would be a massive waste of time and money buildings, but just having the ability to make connected "cities" of POSs would be great in my opinion.

I was under the impression it started with a small personal base structure that could then be expanded massively, with huge generators, powering factories and guns and various services, and you could just keep tacking more and more onto the structure as much as you could afford.

And you'd actually state that POS's in wormholes are fine as they are now?

The concepts from the dead horse thread will do just fine, just let them get very very big if people can be bothered to online and fuel everything.

Have we all forgotten the 'Beating a dead horse' threadnaught? I'm sure there was a lot explainedif not similar to what people wanted. Surprised I don't see that in assembly anymore.
