Eve Gate re-opening: New Frontiers (with Sol system)

Scientists of New Eden (in near distant future) manage to get Eve Gate re-opened by building new next to old.

Capsuleers travelling through it find Sol system and Earth.

But no humans, just empty stations orbiting it and other planets/moons in Sol system, and number of systems around it. Systems with planets mapped by (then new) telescopes and satellites at early 21st century looking for new planets.

Some information about imminent alien threath is found, and about systems that are disconnected from Milkyways gate-system because of that, limiting available Milkyway to just about size of New Eden. Rest is just blur and unknown, for now.

Perhaps someday we find us ready to expand our territory beyond even that, even with risk of finding terrible alien-races, but until that, there is whole new frontier to settle for capsuleers who did not find their own desirable space in New Eden...

And especially, who longed to visit Earth, birth place of humanity...

I suppose if there were no Humans it would be cool. Even better if there was some malevolent entity guarding the ruins that wiped out the civilization, and/or places with intact automated defenses advanced beyond what we might find in New Eden. Also, it would have to be more than just the Sol System, and would need to cover at least 20 LY from Earth with the possibility of exploring further.

I honestly don't get why every other expansion idea has something to do with either the Jovians or the Terrans or some over-arcing threat that puts all the factions in danger.

There is so much more to the current star map and the people within it that can/need to be fleshed out. Tbh... any expansion including either the Jove or the Terrans should be a sign that CCP has run out of material to work with and/or has stopped caring and/or EVE really is dying.

Idea was not to include "new aliens" to game (at least immediately), but to expand EVE universe, to universe we all know (especially now when we find more and more planets, and so could make many systems very much like in RL), think SOL system and Earth (and stations there) could especially be new hot spot for factions and alliances to fight for... Any alliance/faction controlling Sol would have highest prestige.

And then again, this would make much more space for newer players to get their own systems and alliances to control, as New Eden is almost full or guarded.

Opportunities in this would be limitless, in FW, mining, missioning, etc.

It could even be concord free space, as EVE was at beginning.

Think of it as a "gold rush" of EVE, people fighting who gets through that new gate (at time told before) to this whole new universe first (or maybe one of multiple gates) , to this new area with many systems and stations to control, with trade or war....

Cant really be that much harder than adding WH-systems to game were... Well, except that some planets need to be made accurately...

The reason that null-sec is almost "full" and/or "guarded isn't because they aren't enough systems. Hell... more than half the null-sec systems have no one in them.

No... the reason you don't see smaller groups out there is because the large alliances don't like competition and view any new alliance setting up shop nearby as a possible "threat." And it is simply easier to destroy than to deal with the complexities of diplomacy.

Now... hypothetically... if the Sol system (and star systems around it) were introduced, what do you suppose would happen? Because I'd bet money that it'd start out the same way control over current null-sec did (chaos) before finally turning into what it is now (more or less homogeneous).

Current NPC null-sec.

... which will all be overrun and camped by the largest, most organized, and best equipped organizations that currently dominate EVE... who will then all go to war with each other if the resources and/or riches of this new area exceed that of our current starmap.

And before you say that wormholes didn't suffer from this "doomsday scenario" I would like to point out that wormholes are inherently unstable on purpose. In having mass limitations and needing to be probed down each time they collapse wormholes make fleet logistics a tedious affair. Plus, they can't be "locked down" very well because new wormholes open in new locations every day.

IMO It would mosty llikely be too close to home to be feasable.
Already there is some RL involvement with tactics and corporations intermixing with corporation and factional warfare.
The complexities with our current mindset and the dogma's we are raised by might just be igniting fires that might not we wishfull.
Just keep in mind that someway we all call Sol our home.

On the other hand maybe this could generate more fire needed to evolve the EVE domain into new dimensions as suggested by the idea.

another approach could be that maybe more exploration into the historic factional breakups of the factions and their evolvement would possible be a new fertile soil to gererate time and storylines to work from. Possibly generating new sub factions and deepen the back stories of the sub groups in the faction. this would mean that niches and rebellous underground agression would ignite some more conflict even within the factions...

Then we would not need an expansion just more bodies...

This is dumb. The Eve universe needs to be deeper, not bigger.

More things of interest in the existing systems, rather than more systems. Planetary Interaction being introduced is one example (albeit horribly underdeveloped and badly needing a major re-iteration phase).

I have a better idea. Let's just scrap the jump gates and jump drives and make everybody travel at warp speed. The universe will feel much bigger, because it will take you close to a day to get to another system.

Genius.

hmmm.. okay, calculated this out, and it turns out our ships go really fast. At 1 AU/s we can travel roughly 20 LY in 6 hours, so it is conceivable we could do it that way, but I'm not sure how many players would be interested in continuing to play when they realized it would take them ~ 2 hours to make that trip to the next system in a Frigate.

I was told to come here by someone in the local chat at Rens.

I have nothing to contribute.

I was also told to come here by someone in chat, but I think new content is a great idea, as long as it does not contradict the lore. Unfortunately, though I'm no expert, it feels like this might do that.

The alien's that you were talking about could have been a slightly more primitive Jove, when humans started to go to other solar systems.

Also if the gate is re-opned there could be a warning from scientists that there may be an oposing force on the other side (Some Jove scouts/guards) then we could combine forces to take back the solor sytstem, an incursion could also be there but instead of sansah, JOVE.
Once Jove is driven out of the system they could retreat to a far away part of the galaxy and turn off the gate. (Jove could replace rats in the belt and be alot stronger than normall rats.
Once Jove have retreated, both faction alliances (amarr+caldari vs M+G) fight over the solar system and cause friction within these alliances. Factional Warfare could be involved in this aswell.

Perhaps Sol system could be unique experiment with factional and alliance/corp warfare combained, for ruling of system, while Concord is there to make sure any tourists that wanna fly around Earth 3 times could do it....?

And this New Frontier could also be area where use of capitals and Titans would be allowed too, even in Sol´s "high sec"....

For the rats in system, maybe add a few Jove items (faction) like have a few things (only frig and maybe cruiser sized) that could only be obtained by harder salvaging or 1/10 chance of droping in a container needing to be hacked, also they could normally drop the same loot we find in rats but t2.
Another idea is to have 1 security agent for each level (1 for lv 1 mish 1 for lv 2 mish etc) for jove in a low/ null sec system. as our solar system (sol) would be high sec (1.0) and a possibly a couple other hi sec systems surrounding it. These missions could be just like normall missions but higher bountys, higher difficultys and t2 loot :D
