I am watching the video before the final.
I think it was CCP Navigator describing the tourney interface.

It is tremendous to understanding what is happening in a small gang.

Any reason why that could not be incorporated into the actual game.
It would be impossible in a large fight, but for a small gang FC it would be a wonderful tool.
Maybe too wonderful a tool, but still it is awesome.

Oh, and I am in love with CCP Sunset.

The reason is ... they need to work on things people care about... like a zombie survival version of the Captain's Quarters.

Now with 100% less Troll.

How should that work in-game? That would be a ton of work to make it somewhat viable.
Who chooses which ships/targets get on the list?
It would also increase the amount of information that would have to be sent to every client (if every client could use the interface, they would, at least in some fashion). > increasing overall server load > lag
Not saying it is impossible, just that you cannot directly implement it as it is now, and I think we have other areas with higher priorities (POS, ship balancing, UI in general, corp UI, revamping mining)

Besides, a lot of this is information you are not supposed to have, as you cannot lock 24 targets (thankfully).
As it is, your team has to share information and overall skill/communication play a great role in small gang fights. With more information easily accessible to the FC, you decrease the value of skilled team members and increase the value of the one awesome FC, who single-handidly organizes the fight (reducing his team mates to "mere soldiers, obeying orders", well somewhat) Not sure that is the direction I would want to go. Good FCs are important enough as is. :)

But yes, it was a very good interface and thank you CCP for making it. It was much easier to understand what was going on this year than in the other ATs.

I am not sure if anymore information would be sent to the client.
Consider, all velocities and vectors are already sent, plus you can see the visual effects of ewar on any ship right now. If the visual effects have been sent, it is quite likely that the actual effects have been sent as well.

As for the quantity of units, I would cap it at the size of the watchlist :15.
Whatever ships are on your watchlist, that is what you would see on that UI.
That would mean you would not see your opponents with that UI, buy hey, can't have everything, and that might be too much information anyway.

As for this reducing the value of the players, and increasing the value of the FC, you may be right.
No doubt the importance of a good FC would increase, and I don't think that is a bad thing.

Consider what that means: This UI would allow a great FC to better orchestrate a small gang battle, influencing the outcome of a battle even more, which INCREASES the human variability with the game. I am all for anything that allows the quality of the human element to influence a battle, over raw numbers of pilots (hi goons and test)

You can see the mentioned interface on all of our Alliance Tournament videos. One example is the final match HUN Reloaded against Verge of Collapse.

The interface was immensely helpful and allowed to follow the tournament matches so much better than the previous years. Many thanks to CCP Veritas who made a lot of these things possible!

Was it Veritas that made it? Apologies to him.

I am pretty sure that your client does not have the information about all ewar-effects applied to your watchlist-targets. Probably managable with 15 targets, but still.

I actually think it would be DECREASE the influence of pilot-skill on the outcome of a battle. You are only focusing on the FC part, but forget that the other pilots and their skill would matter quite a bit less then. Good/high skill pvp corps right now need good FCs AND good pilots. As it is, FC ability already matters quite a lot; I'd rather not shift that further away from pilots. (btw, goons/test HAVE good FCs, they are somewhat lacking as far as average piloting ability is concerned - also, this suggestion only matters for small gang warfare anyway).
I do not see how this change would effect the numbers game one bit; more would still be better. It only shifts the requirements of skill from all small-gang pilots to the FC.

Besides, you did not adress the main issue: It's quite a lot of work to implement (I assume), and there is much more important stuff to do.

And again, CCP did good with the interface as far as the ATX is concerned - just so that nobody thinks this argument is aimed at the AT-interface itself, which was a godsend for spectators.
