new ship: juggernaut class capital ship

Juggernauts are the battle cruisers of battleships...

The size of a standard freighter these mammoth beast wield 8 large turret/missile slots

the juggernauts does not posses a jump drive.

and are able to field up to 5 "air superiority" class fighters.
to launch fighters the juggernaut must activate its fighter lanchbay catapult

note the catapult takes up mass amounts of energy to activate and such the juggernauts max speed is reduced by 85%. To compensate deference's are greatly increased...

note. air superiority fighters are a special class of fighter that can only be launched from Juggernauts... They are specially equipped to kill off enemy fighters and fighter/bombers...

The juggernaut will bridge the gap between sub capital and capital ship...

the Juggernaut will be much less skill intensive then a carrier/dread as there is no jump drive or use of capital mods...

the ehp will sit somewhere between a tier III bs and a carrier...

the names of the ships will be:

Seems okay but do we need more drones in the game? If it is to attack fighters and fighter bombers then isn't it best to have a fast locking time for locking drones? We'd have to target each fighter we want to kill? Ugh

Excuse my ignorance on how long it takes to lock a fighter/fighterbomber.

Wouldnt a juggernaught be better suited as a tier 2 dreadnaught?

Around my yards this class of ship is named the arsenel ship and weight classes as a super battleship.

perhaps but then a tier 2 dread would still be a dread but just tier II...

Plus Juggernaut sounds more bad@ss then super battle ship...

I was pointing out just becuase its 'tier 2' doesnt mean its in the same class.

Covert Ops and stealth bombers is another exmaple.

May I also point out the wiki examples are disportionately .... wrong? I mean how is a temple cart going to stop a heavier armored and heavier gunned battleship?

I mean they used names like Super-dreadnaughts to name the first battleship oddly.

instead of more drones, make each anti fighter system race oriented

i was inspired by your idea nova... but this is different... its not a logi ship in any way... it has turrets and different names plus its a meld between "super bs's" and escort carriers... imo this is a better fit for the concepts...

The escort carrier itself on default has no logistical capabilites and does have few gun slots.

i do have to say i love those pictures of the ships...

for me the concept is a bc for bs's....

fighter/interceptors "air superiority" fighters should only be good at killing fighters/fighter bombers... they should be susceptible to regular drones as they cant track them...

they would have a scan resolution of 300m but with fighters V 5 Fighter/inties would only do 350 dps...

each fighter/interceptor would have a special built in target painter that only works on other fighters/fighterbombers which increases the sig radius by 25% per fighter/interceptor....

25000 years in the future and im quite sure the naming commite would declare it a 'Space-supeiority fighter.' not atmospheric-superiority fighter.

Though I have seen Aero-space superiority but that was to signify the craft was amphibious to both space and atmosphers.

Also unless you are willing to sit down and write out entire charts and do I wouldnt spit out numbers at random but giving an verbal range or estimate is okay.

indeed they do need a more "epic" name then Space-supeiority fighter or whatnot... perhaps "assault fighters" or "starfighter"

true enough the numbers are more estimates (i should probably mention that part) just ruff numbers to start from...

so moreover i am thinking their dps/sig resolution would be lackluster enough to make it so heavy drones would do more dps to sub caps...

but their speed would be really fast (like cynabal fast) and would have an internal targetpainter/stasis web that would light up an enemy fighter enough so its weapon system would be the most effective way to kill fighters/fighter bombers....

Assault would imply you are making this strike craft go some where, perferrably far away and eff something over while takeing a pounding.

Fighter mostly means attacking similar targets to self, (think of a boxer)

Interceptor is mostly what Fighters are except they are either effing fast or effing accurate over a long range.

Attack is basically a lighweight bomber meant for smaller targets.

Bomber is basically widespread destruction delivery.

Also becuase they're just fast and they do 'light' up a target they hit how are you going to get that coded? there is no way to gaurante 1 use per target ewar from an npc object yet.

hmm i am no coder but i would figure the e-war effects would work simular to the BERSERKER TP-900 and BERSERKER SW-900...

I am trying to figure out a way to make these "interceptor fighters" (i guess that is the best description for them) good against other fighters but not as good as regular drones for killing sub caps and not as good a fighters for killing bs's and not as good as fb for killing caps...

so i figure some sort of metric that if the "FI" is shooting an other fighter/fighterbomber its applied dps goes up...
