Was discussing with some mates yesterday about fitting and yield of any salvager.

Their point : Noctis Rigs + Modules full T2 far better yield and income per SITE than T1 version.

My point : Never saw any math formula anywhere about this, i told them it was just eye candy. T1 has only a slight chance to miss the salvage cycle with regular NPC wrecks.

It didn't last long, because i was mostly alone against 4 guys Twisted. The democracy won.

Today i rushed Buckingham Palace, set a Noctis Full T2 and another Full T1.
Found 2 Sanctums Rings version.

Here the looted products with salvager T2 :
Salvaged sanctum with T2 Noctis

Another identical sanctum with the T1 :
Salvaged sanctum with T1 Noctis

Checking the estimated price and volumes, i don't see any good for T2 unless living in WH.

Are you guys noticed that before, or you just plug T2 modules 'cuz it looks sexier ?
BTW, would you like to see an official statement from CCP and obvioulsy a slight new math formula in the winter expansion ?

Salvage is totally random on what comes out, if you perform this test 10 more times for each ship and come out with the same results, then I might give it a go my self and post the data I find as well.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

Salvage is determined on wreck creation. Which ship or module you use to extract it makes no difference.

This. All that t2 kit does is make it quicker. A higher access bonus from equipment can also make you be able to access a wreck you wouldn't be able to from not high enough skill, but as the t2 salvager needs to lvl 5 to use anyway its really only the rigs that matter sthere.

Yes that was i knew. Module / rigs only affecting Access Difficulty, like T2 salvages or sleepers wrecks.
But even in those hard wrecks, if the T1 module has a success in opening the wreck, it does not give you less T2 materials than the Tech2 salvager.

Salvage is mainly random to me (sorted by size)
anyway, if you can post more arguments, i would be pleased.

Time spent = isk lost

So, while a t1 noctis fit may be just as capable of retrieving the loot, it's taking more time.

With t1 salvagers you're going to be running more cycles due to misses

With t1 salvage tackle rigs, you face the same difficulties, however, I'm sure the difference in rigs is much less noticable, expecially after stacking penalties.

The other key is t2 tractors vs t1 tractors. All skills lvl 5 a t1 tractor gets 80km in a noctis.
A t2 tractor gets 96km. So less moving around. however, even if you leave the skill at lvl 4 for the noctis, then you still get better range with t2 tractors than t1 tractors at lvl 5.

So, better range, plus better chance at succeeding means faster.. Faster means more profitable

Totally true. those 2 sanctums i've salvaged took 3mn30 with T2 and 5mn with T1.

Myself, first post wrote:

The fact is i wrote "Per Site".
Anyway, a Noctis fully rigged salvage T1 has already a good chance of successfully salvage the first cycle, for regular NPC.

Yeah, it's the speed at which you salvage the sites that would determine the isk output difference between t1 and t2.

So, t2 being faster at salvaging and tractoring means faster income.

Also, in a wormhole, the less time you spend in an untanked ship, the better.
