hey guys!

Unfortunately we have still no clear picture on what is causing (a good part of) these grid not loading issues. As I posted in the linked thread: Please write bug reports about it, optimally with a log from logserver.exe (warning: running logserver might cause additional lag during fleet fights). The more detailed bug reports we have the likelier we can find the reason for the problems.

Btw: We'll probably also have a look at this issue in the upcoming mass test this week (hopefully I can squeeze it in somehow).

So the only way we have to figure out why we are glitching out of fleets is to lag ourselves out of fleets?

seems legit

edit:

Personally, I think it has more to do with your PC. This happens to me at least once per fleet, sometimes more twice or more, depending on how many are in fleet and how many session changes we have in rapid succession, like titan bridge, warp to gate, jump, warp to gate, jump, etc... I have a really really really bad PC. 3.0ghz Pentium 4, 2 gig ram and a piece of **** AMD 4600 series card. I can run 2 clients as long as they arent doing much. During large engagements, I have brackets off, all effects off, all graphics at the lowest possible settings.... and still nearly kill my PC... I have a grid-load problem ALL THE TIME.

Maybe its the server, more than likely your PC (like mine)

also:

Sometimes, extreme TiDi can make it seem as though the grid has not loaded, when in fact, its just loading at 10% its normal speed

FC, what do?

Boy ccp sure does sound like a useful company one that can almost figure out whats going on with their own game.

it is a bit hard to figure out a problem you can not reproduce because it relates to the computer configuration

well. last big battle i have been to i made like 20%-30% of shots i could. It was just some crazy lags of my client when once enemy ship gets targeted i get lag for 1-2 seconds (it's enough to most targets disappear when you have 100+ alpha-fleet). So i missed lots of targets to shoot at. And my fight finished when i detected locking from enemy ship (first yellow-box on field) and hadn't any chance to order anything to ship until i got mass lock and felt into capsule.

The worst thing is: i was already aligned and prepared to warp. Bookmark window was already opened on bookmark and i was ready to press warp-out. But lag..... Evil

Corpmate didn't detect any lags in that fight....

i had that issue only while in fleet with more then 30 people jumping through a gate

following steps i tried to fix it in this order

- delete the extra data (logfiles)
- disable saving logiles
- running the eve repair file
- running it again
- changing fan setting to keep the processor and gpu cooler
- changing video settings to minimum, settings of the card to performance, VSYNC on
- changing to full screen (from fixed window)

the next patch there was an issue with the installing

- ran repair file again

never had the issue again, before i had it 1/10 jumps with the fleet

it seems it can be fixed, not sure what exactly fixed it

also pressed the "clear cache button" a few times, but i am sure everybody did that

I agree that being with more people in fleet seems to make it more likely for the glitch to happen, but when it comes to the person's computer being the cause, I can't discount it completely, but I also think this is not quite likely. The reason I say that is because during one of the glitch I was monitoring my computer's performance to see if it was indeed a problem with my graphics card or my computer. From what I could see, my hardware was not even near being pushed to its limits. I feel there's something more to the glitch than just player-side issues.

I think the other post regarding how it could be related to clocking of the client has something to do with it. But yes I have taken many steps to eliminate it, and although for me is not an every day occurrence, the glitch is not fixed. And I don't want to "avoid large fleets" in order to fix it... because that's lame.

I am am looking forward to seeing if they duplicate the problem or notice the problem as it happens in the upcoming mass tests...

Had this happen a few times and only when in (biggish, around 20, 30 people) fleets, usually when there was something waiting on the other side but once even when there was nothing there.
I was/am under the impression that this only happens when there is a mass-jump, lots of people trying to session-change at the same time so my solution is to wait a few seconds before jumping myself though that is hardly a good behavior.

Also, a few times I had the grid loading and dynamic but my ship remained unresponsive, don´t know if this is related but there you go...

  • I have posted petitions, CCP basically responded the very same thing, "we don't know what happened"...
  • I have posted bug report(s) (the first one failed to be sent for some reason idk), up to the point when I sacrificed my ship just to post a bug report, with the huge bug report screen + the client freeze during submitting reports + the time it takes (oh, that was actually right after CCP told me to post one from one of my petitions), plus, CCP refused to reimburse that loss, because your "policy" states that player loss with the involvement of other players (eventhough the action taken was under their direction, plus it would have never happened if the "bug" weren't there in the first place) is not reimburseable.

And none, apparently, it's still not fixed yet, as I said on my petitions before, this happened often to many people and so often that people don't even bother to post bug reports anymore. These so called "desyncs" is known to be a regular occurrence. Just ask any big fleet FCs how many fleet members have to deal with this everytime.

This is a different issue altogether.

Some lowsec gate camps have tons of cans, drones, and junk piled around them that causes your client to lag when getting ongrid, not to mention decloaking you.

This method is however considered an exploit, you are encouraged to report this exploit and deliver punishment on glitchers.

This is also a different issue.

The "desync" bug is when you jump through a gate, or bridge with a titan and right after you switch system / session change, the grid and all space objects refuses to load, basically, you can't do anything, can't warp, overview is showing nothing, right-click context menu shows nothing (by nothing it means showing no celestials, stations, belts, or other warpable objects). But the chat windows are still active, and other than 'space-stuff' everything works fine.

Yes because we all play with same computers therefore it's related to those.

Mac users, wincrap users, lap tops, stations, ATi, nVidia, happens randomly to every one at least once. Some don't get it any more other still have this bug frequently.
Had it once or twice, didn't changed absolutely nothing on my computer and not having this for a week or so.

yes it is a little random and definitely big engagements and fleet movements are related to the problem, not so much hardware of the computer imo... when people say that it makes me wonder... So does this person think that the overview standings bug is also caused by the user? Obviously it's a bit of a bizarre glitch as well in which the client or server is not getting the info that... "hey mark these guys as blues because... they're blues"

Maybe in a similar fashion the client is not being told ... "oh, look, your ship is now on grid and you can warp to these places, and this is where everyone else is..."
