"I do not talk to inferior beings. Do not message me again swine." These were the words spoken to me by one ChineseLollipop when finally I received a response to my asking why he had dumped 2900 people out to die. It is clear that he does feel any accountability at least to such a lesser being such as I. Be that as it may, I do feel a sense of accountability to any of these abandon ones when it is within my power to act. The rescues reported below acknowledge the intrinsic value of the lives saved. We honor these lives and hold those responsible for their abandonment up to public shame.

I have informed the directors of our Medical program of an offer of expert help from sources familiar with problems unique to those we encounter in our rescue work. Our doctors and nurses are excited about this possibility and the freedom to consult and possibly refer unique cases when needed.

One such problem we often encounter is what you might call "exotic infections." These tend to occur in hypoxic cases where cyanosis has developed into necrosis. Affected cells and systems no longer respond with the same immunological defenses typical of healthy cells. There are times when available anti-biotics and even some advanced nano-treatments are able to combat the rare bacterial agents involved. These cases can be challenging. Having trusted outside medical resources could make our work more effective, saving lives and helping those we rescue recover from their injuries faster.

I will say this; when cans are so labelled it does let us know what to expect when we reach them. These 26 were OK but they relayed to us that the pilot seemed insane. His behavior was disjointed and manic. They expressed great relief to climb out of the rescue ship on to the station.

Most of the 2900 from the other day are out of hospital. There is only one left in the hospital. We hope she will be released soon to join the others in the Dresi Matriculation Community.

I write here today, though it is not my usual practice, because the extraordinary help we have received lately warrants mention. Though this individual prefers anonymity and we are bound to honor that request, it is well within bounds to say that we appreciate the unrequited assistance this person has offered to our Matriculants in the last few days.

After being rescued and/or freed, what these former slaves appreciate most is the opportunity to study, live, train, and work within the Republic or in the palce of their choice as the case may be. This individual has enabled several thousand of these grateful students to begin their studies much sooner. We also are grateful. It is difficult to see so many have to wait. And while it is the governmental authorities and their insistence on continuing a repatriation policy that is closed fisted rather than opened armed, still the help of this person shows that there is goodwill in our cluster.

We hope for a long and lasting relationship of service together with this one and others as well. To whom it is deserved and borrowing the favorite saying of our founder, "The Disciples of Ston Bid You Peace."

Chains, fetters, shackles and the like; ancient forms of restraint now unnecessary but still used. Now there are more sophisticated forms of restraint and more barbaric to be certain. But the ancient shackle is more than a practical tool of the slaver, it is symbol of slavery and domination. In the first death can were found 108 slaves still in their shackles but also the slavers were there, double crossed by the pilot they hired to transport them out of Amarr space.

Just as the shackle is a symbol for the slave and slaver, so we also use that symbol but in a different way. Once transported on board our rescue ship, my crew one by one removed the shackles from each slave and that in the presence of the slavers who looked on as the symbol of slavery was removed from hands and feet. The removal of the shackle is also a powerful symbol and a clear message. There is surprise in the eyes of the slave as she becomes a former slave. Surprise is in the eyes of the slaver as she realizes that we are a different lot to treat with.

When we dock, another surprise. 6 slaver hounds taken to their kennels by expert, trained handlers; Minmatar handlers. Destinies changed the moment these people and animals were abandoned in space. We hope for the good of all we rescue. Don't doubt that we also hope for good in the case of the slavers as well. Their lives matter to us and we will see that their lives are protected and that a different way of life is also place before them.

The shackles are gone...beaten into plow shares if you will. No one rescued here today need wear them again.

A rescue earlier today presented us with a bit of a mystery. This pilot jettisoned a mixture of legal and illegal cargoes including 10 non-slave prisoners bound for who knows where. As of yet, we have not been able to unravel the reason for their imprisonment. We will be trying to determine that in days ahead.

Sometimes a pilot will jettison human passengers in favor of making room for some valuable loot he or she has discovered nearby. This may or may not be the case here.

In other news. We have transferred one of the 2900 rescue last week to a medical facility run by the Lai Dai corporation. This particular case presented a condition that our Medical staff was unable to treat. We appreciate the Lai Dai Corporation and the involved associates for their willingness to help us in this matter. We trust that the vast research and knowledge base capabilities of Lai Dai may come up with a solution to malady suffered by this otherwise healthy patient.

Think about remedial education for a moment. In most cultures, this is a bad word. It means extra work before you can move on. Because education is a centerpiece of our Matriculation program, remedial programs are a huge part of what we do. Our hope and goal is to place Matriculants in University, Tech School, Law School and reluctantly, Military school. But before that can happen, remedial education has to happen. It is the first educational step in our program after evaluation. Excepting those who were highly trained or educated as slaves, all Matriculants need it to some extent before moving on.

How do most Matriculants approach their remedial studies? With excitement! Anticipation! Zeal! When they see a transport leaving the M-Center with those bound for Republic University or Pator Tech or the Justice Department Law School, they know that if they work hard at their studies, they will be on that transport some day.

To our surprise, we have found that the greatest interest seems to be in Republic University. We have been straightforward with our residents about the Gallentean model of education used at the institution. Rather than dissuading the choice, it has conformed the interest all the more. We have been curious about this so we began to ask around. What we discovered was psychologically intriguing.

Slaves are subject to near constant indoctrination, much of which doesn't work but has the opposite effect. This has been the historical struggle the religious Amarr have had with the Minmatar. They just won't give up that "mind of their own." The Gallentean culture is one of the targets to be maligned. The Liberal education model used in Gallentean schools is blasted as useless, decadent and definitely not a path to righteousness. Herein lies the unintended reverse psychology. "They say it is bad; it must be good." Matriculants by the thousands want a taste of that style and philosophy of liberal education. It is by far the first choice. More Matriculants choose to repatriate at a Republic University location than any other of our locations.

80 people were rescued earlier today. I wonder where they will want to go to school if that is what they seek. I wonder how they will approach their remedial studies. May the frontier before them inspire wonder and boldness.

A Definition…
Vivisection: The act of cutting into or dissecting the body of a living animal.

Today while returning from Khanid space to a patrol area, I came upon a jet can labeled “biowaste disposal.” The can was abandoned (blue). As we approached it, a nearby Orca began tractoring the can. I assumed that if valuables were aboard, they would be looted. The Orca immediately released the can and warped out of the system. We often see cans labeled with derogatory euphemisms for slaves. We thought that this was probably the case here as well. I brought up the pilot owner information before we were in range. The Pilot owner of the container was one Saede Riordan. When in range, we recorded the pilot information, time, and contents of the can: 114/09/14 14:15 Saede Riordan 5 tourists with note "These people are dead. They have been vivisectioned." The can did contain exactly that; a bookmark/note and five dead tourists. Our forensic pathologists were able to determine that they had, indeed, been vivisected. What follows is my correspondence with Pilot Riordan immediately after the incident.

Correspondence with Pilot Riordan:

Why?

To: Saede Riordan,

Why did you jettison a can with 5 vivisectioned tourists? Are you responsible for their murders? Any explanation you care to give for this action?

To: Ston Momaki,

It was biowaste that I did not want contaminating my ship. People die in the course of my day to day activities Mr. Momaki. I am a capsuleer, it is simply a fact of my existence. They were simply more useful to me dead then while alive. This is a dark universe we live in Mr. Momaki, I applaud your morality, but it is not something I possess nor would I desire it myself. I am what I am. We cannot all be paragons of virtue. In these dark heavens, someone must play the devil.

To: Saede Riordan,

Pilot Riordan,
DSTON would like to contact the next of kin of the five tourists you vivisected. Can you provide their names or any information that would help us track down their families? We would like to return their remains so that proper rites may be given and families have closure. Please assist if you can.
Ston

To: Ston Momaki,

I have no idea of their identities, I acquired them and others from the wreck of a sansha vessel that I found while exploring. I doubt their loved ones had any hope for their survival. If you'd really like, there are a number of live ones currently held in a holding container in a safespot within the Niarja solar system, I believe you already have the bookmark to the site. I have acquired the needed biologic components from these ones, you are welcome to the rest. Do as you wish with them.

Saede Riordan
End correspondence

I was able to retrieve 20 more tourists who are alive and undergoing medical evaluation at one of our centers.

How does one describe the sight of five bodies, cut open; knowing that they were alive while the cutting occurred? How does one describe the incredulity of such an utterly dark response by the instrument of their death? Do we now live in such a culture where we simply shrug and accept this kind of behavior? Perhaps some may revel in this kind of barbarity, but surely there are those among us, some reading this, who will say, “enough!”

What would be the very least of appropriate postures toward the one who did this? Will you continue to carry on casually with her as if her behavior was barely aberrant, not even barbaric? Try to pretend for a moment that the scalpel was in your own hand and the deed was yours. What would it take for you to become such a person? Indifference is the first step.

I was under the impression that you did not identify the owners of blue cans.

I do this for many reasons. I do it because I believe it is right. I do it because I will profit by it. These all consolidate into one reason: I do it because I can.

Our policy is specific to pilots abandoning cans containing live persons in need of rescue. The pilot who jettisons passengers and then abandons the can so that they may be rescued, is not named. The policy did not address this situation with pilot Riordan.

Nearly four hours after the grizzly discovery, regular patrol duty resulted in the rescue of 4 people from a death can. I cannot overstate the kind of joy and relief felt by my whole crew and myself at the discover of these four living people. We are always happy to rescue people but there were great cheers upon the transport of these four on board. They had no idea why our elation was such and we felt it inappropriate to tell them why. Suffice it to say that all aboard the DSTON Rescue were smiles crew, pilot, and rescued ones.

There is no no name listed on the wall of shame below. When I went to retrieve the information from my log, no name. I had not entered it and I certainly don't remember it. But, 43 people are alive and well and were rescued in close proximity to the time they were jettisoned so they suffered minimal effects. That is always good.

I am distracted and worried about my friend Manwe. I fear that at the end of 60 days, he may not be a Disciple of Ston anymore.

Very little has been going on in the way of rescues lately and this post is not directly about rescues. I happened to be on patrol today when 8 outlaw battle cruisers were quickly and summarily destroyed by an overwhelming force of Concord ships. I was on the scene at the time so I and my crew were prepared to receive surviving crew members from the destroyed ships. Sadly, there were none that we could find. The best we could do was to confiscate 14 mil ISK worth of heavy weapons. Other pilots with fast ships were quickly working the debris field. Perhaps they found some survivors. We can only hope.

It is the sad fact that capsuleer pilots risked the lives of so many of their crews in needless risk taking. While I know that this is a perennial debate and many say that crews know the risk, I am not so sure that they do. Did these crews know that they would be passing into almost certain death at a gate where their very presence would guarantee an overwhelming and destructive response from Concord? Each of these pilots will wake up in a vat somewhere and lament the loss of their rigs and weapons and expensive ships. But what of their crews?

Concord certainly has the ability to treat such outlaws as they would smugglers. Scram and Web them, instruct the pilots to jettison crew life pods, give the pilots time to save their crews.

I truly grow weary of seeing this thread every morning I open the IGS to see the news.

Every corporation and I'd wager most members myself included has been guilty of self promotion on the forum at one time or another. Such adverts honestly are healthy as they (if done well) are informative to all parties.

But this thread is about thirty pages of you talking to yourself getting your little crew to like every post.

I know asking you to stop posting every chance you get is pointless but nothing else is likely to work or worth the effort so heres hoping i suppose.

The second rescue recorded below was of one single person left alone to die. The act of jettisoning her into space was a sort of ultimate disrespect of her individual life. "Die now, you are worthless." This is what those on the Wall of Shame are saying in effect. We say to this lone person rescued,"Live now, you are valuable!" We say it to all those we rescue. Your lives are valuable, live them!

An individuals' annoyance at reading will only approach the ethical worth of good Captain Ston's work once that individual commits suicide over the sheer volume of annoyance. Until then, promoting the rescuing of lives is of greater worth. Do let us all know if you cross that threshold, however :)

As someone who has been negatively depicted in this thread, I actually don't have a problem with its continued presence. Mr. Momaki does what he feels is good work, these heavens could use more like him. Overall, the effect is minimal. The amount of people he saves pale in comparison to those that die at the hands of even one capsuleer on a day to day basis. Let him promote his pointless little service. Maybe some people will even get a chance to live because of it.

106 people were rescued through the course of the day. I ponder in hope that the number is greater and that there are many others passing through the lanes of space that are also rescuing those left to die. The last rescue again enforces the importance of taking time to check in the unusual places. 10 were left and then the can was blued in a place not typically associated with passenger jettisons. The troubling thing is that there were stations close by and no danger from customs. It will be transition time soon for those at the temp center as they anticipate moving to one of the larger communities in Dresi. There is a lot of excitement as those rescued think about joining a large community of people, all with similar experiences.

"For as long as you live you will be bound, a slave, a common laborer for someone else. Accept it as your lot in life." These words were spoken to one of the 92 we rescued yesterday. They were spoken to him by his former master as he boarded the capsuleer piloted transport bound for State territory and the illegal slave markets networking from the Jita trade hub.

That all changed at 12:54 hours yesterday when the realization that imminent death was interrupted and new possibilities opened. To those we pick up in these death cans we say, "Let your destiny expand. You live for a purpose find it, make it, walk it."

Upon the rescues recorded below, our temp center reached its capacity and the time has arrived once again to transport Matriculants and others to larger facilities. These travel times also provide time for thought, observation, and reflection.

Laughter comes in as many varieties as people, motivations, and intentions. I hear laughter from the poles of the spectrum of humanity in the work that I do. Perhaps the purest form of laughter is the self-effacing laughter of a person comfortable with themselves and secure enough in themselves to recognize the goofy things we all do and to laugh at themselves sincerely. This laughter is most common among the "simple" people we rescue. It is rare among us capsuleers. It seems the more powerful and capable we become, the less we are willing to see the humor in our own gaffs.

Capsuleer laughter... Yes, there is a lot of it, but it is somehow far less pure. Mostly, there is a lot of snickering at others and to oneself. A short visit to any of the public channels will fill your auditory com with enough snickering to last a lifetime all in a few moments. Humor has become one of the favorite tools to elevate self at the expense of others. We tend to clothe ourselves with a layer of denigrating laughter designed to hide our own insecurities and to foist ourselves as superior to all. This, accompanied by the well-recognized "I know more than you do" smirk.

Picture two scenes if you will: Scene one is the supper table at the temp center where rescued people eat, talk, cry, and laugh. Leaving that setting, I feel invigorated and healthy. Scene two is some public com channel where capsuleers gather mostly to prove their superior intelligence over each other. Here there is a lot of argument and laughter. After a while, I leave. But, I do not feel invigorated or healthy. Rather, I feel drained. I think there are a lot of capsuleers who need to look for a better source of laughter, one the builds up rather than tears down.

Part of my transportation duty today is to take the remains of the five vivisected tourists to our facility in Ation. There, Gallentean pathology specialists will provide one last forensic examination before we perform funeral rites.

Also on the journey are 20 surviving tourists that Pilot Riordan allowed us to rescue from a secure capsule. These, she explained were picked up from a destroyed Sansha vessel in her explorations. Having secured what she wanted from the five vivisections, she let the others survive. There is no laughter in this group. First, they were subject to the horror of Sansha, then to await possible vivisection. These are traumatized people. Some would say to put them out of their misery. We still see hope that they may recover a semblance of their former humanity. Our homeless shelter will take over the long term care of these individuals.

I will also take my first journey to our new center in Yulai with 9 Slavers destined for our detention center there. The last stop of the journey before returning to patrol duty will be Pator Tech in Abrat where 9 hounds will be retrained as service dogs.
