Ok Here's the deal. I'm interested in making an alt using the current power of two promotion.. since i'm a new player myself and my short term goal for my main is mission running/PvE, i need some advice on where my alt would perform.

Other thing, I can log both char at the same time using my pc and my laptop, i know we can multi instance eve (cmiiw) but it's more convenient.

My first thought would be to use the alt as a support/damage dealer while I tank . if that's the case which weapon to use? missile? turret or laser. as you can see I'll run mission for gallente. preferably if the support also fit for remote armor rep and/or loot and salvage.

thx before

There is no "right" way to alt, I chose to train almost exclusively on hurting people so my alt trained up non hurting things. I got a good balance going

It is important to remember that you're not just getting a second account, but three more character slots. Since you want to do PvE with your main, consider training a PvE support character. He/she could train to fly a noctus for salvaging your missions, freighter/transport ship for moving your loot and other goodies around, and a covert ops ship for scanning down exploration sites and wormholes; flavor to taste. There are many other things this character could do, like skills for refining/reprocessing mission loot, trade skills, manufacturing/ research, etc. After you get your PvE support character trained up, you could switch to training another combat character, perhaps with a focus on PvP; RvB alts are always fun and not expensive to fund either.

Use the certificates Evemon suggests as a guide; you can usually get by with much less, but it is easier to have a list of skills you can prune away instead of trying to build a skill-plan from scratch.

Give your alt every advantage you can, train up cybernetics IV first and put in a set of +4 implants (or even cybernetics V and +5s); use the three remaps you are given at the beginning wisely.

Really, if you have no idea why you need an alt for or what to do with the alt.

You DON'T need him.

I'm with J'Poll. Getting alts when you have to ask someone else what you need to do with them is a senseless waste of money. You might eventually need an alt, but you'll know when that time is.

Main is on a rail kronos, alt is in a pulse paladin. The mix of long range and short is quite effective. Alt has salvage, reprocessing skills, industry and manufacturing, hauling, cyno 5, and about a bazillion other skills that are nice to have but don't want to put time into on my main.

In the mission both ships should be able to tank fairly well because you can't always control aggro, and it's not worth the time costs to micromanage it. That said, over-tanking is a bad habit noobs get in to (assuming they set up a proper pve tank at all. ) You should have at least 2 or 3 damage mods plus maybe tc 's webs or paints tank permitting. With a t2 tanking mods you should be able to fit your damage mods no problem.

Really there isn't a lot I don't have the sp to do on main or alt. It's really easy to get a lot of useful sp quickly with alts .

The fantastic thing about EVE and having an alt is that the possible uses you can have for it are endless. You are not bound to one purpose.

My advice is to experiment with what other pilot's have suggested. Find out what works best for you and go from there. Many pilot's have upward of 5 alts, myself included, all performing different roles.

Good Luck!

I would get your alt training Core skills. Get all those annoying core skills up, Engineering/electronics/nav/mechanics ect. ect. while you are unsure what to train for next. You will have to train these anyway and nothing more annoying than needing to train a crap load of basic prereqs because you couldn't be bothered before. There is always a use for an alt... a 1 day old alt can be a neutral scout for a large gang coming through, or can run a pick up a few modules in Jita for you. Alts are extremely handy.

I have found that T2 sentry support alts are much easier to manage. For missions against Serpentis, Blood Raiders and Drones I have an alt flying a T2 megapulse Oracle: it's pretty hard to top the DPS of that ship. For everything else I have an alt flying a T2 sentry Gila. I use the Gila because that fits in the Orca with my Basilisk and Scimitar. If you're not planning on chasing Incursions around the galaxy, you could use a T2 sentry Dominix.

Just be aware that you don't own the alts, they own you.
