We can only dream.

If they drop Avatar interaction on us with the realease of Dust I will **** enough

You say that like the resulting pyramid would be a good thing.

Once the desert heat dried it up it would be good.

This shows what WiS would look like with CCP's avatars and an actual person controlling them, in an actual station with other avatars.

On the PS3 as part of dust.

The avatar in a station part is about half way though. It is in something called the Event Horizon Lounge. At one point you can even see a planet out a window. Note that CCP is handling the scene complexity issue by having avatars that are far away look like hollow shells. They are just reducing the resolution as needed to keep reasonable performance.

(How powerful is the graphics processor in a PS3 compared to what is in a typical PC?)

Its not clear to me if that lounge is only accessible when you first set up an account or if its always accessible. And we got no idea if the merger of Eve and Dust will let us pod pilots in there as well.

Ain't absolutely great how our money paid for dust bunnies getting cool space stations overlooking cool planets whereas we capsuleers are sentenced to 2 or 3 years of CQ imprisonment at least, and then be released only under parole that we will make all in our hands to go dungeon raiding and get killed in a "meaningful" way?

It makes me feel so proud that I've contributed with hundreds of my euros so dust bunnies get what they deserve, that now i'm going to load the CQ, sit in my couch and think about it.

Why would Dust have to fail for this to happen?

Why would Dust failing make it more likely to happen?

CCP recently borrowed more money to finish Dust. If Dust were to fail, they might not be able to pay that money back.

The servers, ALL the servers could go dark soon after.

Meanwhile, in CCP's marketing department...

...now they're selling 90 days of subscription for 24.95 €. What?

Be noted, I resubbed Ish a while ago paying 29.99 for the same time. I would consider resubbing Indahamawar now, but Ishtanchuk already has got 51 days left and I don't feel like paying a cent more than necessary. One account suffices.

PLEX may go up, but EVE subscription is steadily devaluating for those who cancel their accounts.

So I would suggest people interested in WiS to cancel your main account and wait for the offers to resub, then cancel your alt account and wait for another offer.

This way you can keep playing, you pay less, and CCP notices a steady trend of people who leaves because of WiS.

And all in all it's not as if we were going to get anything for our money in the next two years, right?

Not exactly, they borrowed USD 20 million to advertise DUST as it's going to be launched in the middle of a burst of suppah-shootahs on Q4. With a yearly income of USD 66 million in 2011, it's a good chunk of money for CCP and certainly they hope that DUST will reach to repay it.

If you need a funny line of thought, consider this: of all things EVE, DUST is going to pivot initially upon Factional Warfare.

Also, based on some of the You-tube videos, there are battles vs NPCs that take place on planets in NPC null sec space.

If CCP is paying for marketing, their deal with Sony is spectacularly terrible.

Sony's publishing DUST, and the publisher is generally the company responsible for marketing.

On a related note, since we're talking about income,
I'm wondering how much Dust has already made off of the mercenary pack...

ccp: ohhhh noooo we lost subs from 50 dudes who are like all we want to do in eve is emote.

I will concede to the fact that most people look forward to some form of wis in the future, but I highly doubt the number of "imvu-pocalypse now or i am quitting now" freaks is high enough to be taken seriously.

I honestly think canceling the devblog was a good move. The prototyping they're doing for WiS is awesome to generate interesting gameplay ideas, but isn't particularly great for public consumption. Considering the backlash Incarna got any news on WiS features need to be nearly fully fleshed out before it's considered. Hopefully sometime this year we'll get an update on the roadmap for these features as well as a solid plan.

Ah, I remember something big happening in FW after those latest changes.

A little player-driven content ...

Triggered by: Wars of Sovless Agression, Bending the Knee, Twisting the Knife, Eating Sov Wheaties, Bombless Bombers, Fizzlesov, Interceptor Fleets, Running Away, GhostTime Vuln, Renters, Bombs, Bubbles ?

the blog was a good chance to see how far CCP is with the current avatar tech

and who knows maybe more people would be interested in WIS,even the i am afraid of the emoter types

At this moment ,nothing is happening or seems to be happening much at Team Avatar.

Team Avatar was prototyping stuff ,then said soon we can show you something, next was we are going to show you something.
After that sudden silence,no it wasn,t a good move

It already happened.

A bunch of people resubbed when they heard Incarna was being released.

Then they unsubbed after it sucked.

Pretty much the same thing.

CCP is farming extra subscriptions from the pool of former subscribers, and CCP Unifex already told to the CSM that the quantity of subscribers is not necessarily the single or the best measure of performance.

You see, it's all right aboard the ship, but the crew is beginning damage control for a scenario where they already subscribed everyone who could be interested about EVE, they won't be able to provide anything that calls in new recruits (hint: WiS), and it's time to try and keep what they got.

CCP is shifting EVE from "growth mode" to "hold on" mode. Retaining noobs with a better NPE, keeping bittervets happy with iterations on the same old crap, rocking the boat so bittervets must learn new tricks, and more or less ignore a few nasty realities (like endgame content only interests a little fraction of players, and is becoming increasingly broken due to "workingasintendedness").

It smells of the road every MMO undertakes before going Free To Play.

So nobody resubbed for Inferno? And there are exactly zero potential players out there interested in what eve already is?

99 problems but pants aint one, if you have emoting problems i feel bad for you son

Oh, no, they certainly did. "A bunch of people" doesn't imply the majority.
