The gankers did indeed get the last laugh, but its because they are still getting killmails, not because of your armature economics rhetoric. You know, the kind that doesn't include the price index over the entire scenario, just the part you like to point out.

Witch is also good for the game because it will lead to more and expensive ships destruction. No problem here.

it was a logical extension of the new mining barges... you can now park a tanky retriever in an ice belt, and come back an hour later, no need to worry about yield, you don't even need a bot, just an alt you check on once in an hour or so.

Our local ice belt is nowadays swarming with macks and retrievers. Some even with an orca. But most of the time it's single macks/rets mining away at the ice belt. I'm guessing in empire it's even more prevalent. Expect ice products to drop sharply.

the good part is, this means cheaper POS fuel, which means more viable posses for moongoo production, which leads to more moongoo.. thus lower prices on T2 stuff.

but it will take a while for the effects of ice to proliferate that far into the market.

I fail to see how this patch affected ganking in any way.

Sure Procurers and Skiffs have truly awesome amounts of EHP for thei class, but from what I've seen 3 Catalysts can still pop a Macki.
If my knowledge of prices is correct, thats still a cost effective gank.

EDIT: Speaking of cost effective ganks. Was looking at the kills on EvE-Kill. Someone was carrying 7b of implants in a RIFTER.

So? I did that all the time when Minmatar kept getting T5.

They're not free, but they only cost the labor/time required to obtain them. Putting an isk value on that is arbitrary, because the in game value of isk changes quite often. The real value of isk is zero. Try paying your mortgage with it. The amount of hours of mining required to build an oracle, however, is pretty constant.

But seriously, if going through the trouble of working out the current isk "value" of the time you spend playing a computer game is what makes you happy then go right ahead. At the end of the day however, it's just time spent playing a computer game. I don't think putting EVE on your resumé will help much, and I don't think you're getting those hours "invested" back, ever. So do be sure to have fun.

the statement is true in real life but this iis a game not a second job , if somebody wants to mine all the minerals for his freighter and say it is free it is up to him

back to topic , only people really laughing are the ones who just sold their isotopes after months of hoarding them

I do not agree with what you are saying , but i will defend to the death your right to say it...... Voltaire

Prices this low after 1 week. Set for 250 per isotope in another week?

ROFL, gankers got the last laugh, any gank on a miner at this price would set them back weeks of income. Miners will soon see that the patch was more of a curse than an improvement.

You might want to recalcutlate using a Covetor or Retriever.

Stealth crying? Over what? I've ganked quite a few miners since the patch.

Really? 2 is quite a few? And based on their fits i'm assuming they aggro'd you after can flipping?

Remember when people explicitly warned ccp that the floor was gonna fall out from under the market because of this

and now it looks like its happening

enjoy afking over a hot stove 23/7 for a few pennies.

The floor is hardly falling from under anything, stop being so bloody dramatic. If anything the prices have stablized from crazy high to just super high.

The reality of Eve is that, if you don't love it like it is today, you should probobly go ahead and unsub.

So a few market idiots are panicking and dumping stocks because they don't know how to read patch notes. Prices will bounce back to about 10% below the original value once people realize that mining yield wasn't increased.

I've been saying this for ages, though I would hardly put the credit to this on the gankers.

Even though mining yields have not changed, the perception of mining has.

The Retriever/Mackinaw changes are the real game changer... allowing solo miners (the most common type out there) to solo mine without the risks involved with jet can mining. Their ore bays are large enough to eliminate the need for a hauler alt. This brings moderately efficient mining to any player with a single account.

The psychology of the miners is also different. With their shiny new boats, solo miners who might not do the math or read the patch notes might assume their mining barges are now gank-proof. While this is clearly not the case, the gankers have yet to re-assert their threat.

Ice prices are going to plummet further than mineral prices in the long run. This is because ice mining in a mack/retriever allows for LONG blocks of afk mining since ice asteroids essentially never pop. Ore mining still requires more at-keyboard attention as asteroids deplete much faster.

I also see low/null sec ore returning to their original status of "Being much much better to mine than high sec ore"
This is because solo miners operate largely out of high sec, and no amount of extra cargo hold, tank or whatnot will overcome the danger a solo-miner faces when trying to mine outside of high sec.

Ultimately, there will be a balancing point. As prices drop, demand will increase. Manufacturers who normally wouldn't make things will buy up minerals to make cheaper ships and modules.
Corporations who normally wouldn't keep a POS online will be more aggressive with setting them up.
PVPers will be more willing to fly and potentially lose ships if their cost is much less.

The real winners are PI colony builders and consumers of T2 ships/modules.

In the cat-and-mouse game that is low sec, there is no shame in learning to be a better mouse.

Also I might add. I think you miss the point a bit.

We miners really couldn't care much less about gankers. They are the ones loving us, not the other way around. Smile

2/10

It's truly the end of times when it takes my afk-self 3 day to plex instead of 2. I've had all these macks laying around forever, whatever will I do with them?! These really are the darkest of days. Now just imagine if I wasn't sitting around in serpent's farming hisec ore, I might plex every day.

It's also totally true that every single miner lives paycheck-to-paycheck and we can't pay the electric bill whenever we get a flat tire.
