Crazy lowsec idea

I read about it. It actually got filed under useless info in my head (if that makes sense). Can't say I'm surprised about the out rage. Lowsec-lovers want more easy kills. It made sense to me because gate guns were never meant to be easy to tank. It used to take pure tank battleships, one per gun, to handle them (plus skilled pilots and coordination). Now, one capitol ship can do it laughing. It's easy to make them as if they weren't there. That is not how they were meant to work.

I mostly stick to feature/idea/question threads. Got a link to the "debate" per chance?

For those who either missesd it or didn't feel like reading the 150+ pages...

CCP Greyscale moves on to explain his work on sentry guns. Sentry guns will now shoot anyone with a criminal flag, suspect or otherwise. Sentry guns will also start with smaller amounts of damage, and ramp up with time. Ideal tuning will be to where triage carriers will die at around 4 1/2 minutes. This way, if you want to use triage carriers in lowsec on gates you can, but you must commit to the cycle for a length of time before starting your reps, if you want to deactivate triage before the sentry guns kill you and jump out. CCP Greyscale also points out that another goal is to make it so that the first couple of hits won't kill an interceptor immediately, enabling a quick tackle, and then a warp out.

Aleks remarks that this would be great for enabling more frigate use in lowsec piracy.

No.

Destination SkillQueue:- It's like assuming the Lions will ignore you in the Savannah, if you're small, fat and look helpless.

Why don't these carebears just ask CCP to ban weapons from ships and be done with it?

Jeez Louise - Low-sec is Supposed to be dangerous. If you have neither the resourcefulness nor resouces to get into low-sec to do your thing, you're probably better off staying in high-sec or playing Hello Kitty Online.

Space is Supposed to be dangerous!

Low-sec is Bandit Country.

Nul-sec is where grand alliances and coalitions form their empires.

Live with it.

the pve risk/reward balance in lowsec is way off and the main reason for that is that you have to travel. traveling is a risk you can't control - at least not without alts.
sure you can make 50 jumps without problems on a lucky day in a pve ship but one unlucky jump and your ship is gone.

so you need either a second account (scout) or enough income to pay for the loss of the ship and time. but the rewards in lowsec dont compensate for that, if you compare it to highsec.

so an easy solution would be to make traveling safe in lowsec, even for bigger ships. you still can get ganked in sites or missions but thats at least something a good player might be able to handle or evade.

and btw if only one side wants to engage in combat thats not pvp - it is ganking.
suicide ganking, gate camps, killing raters. pro pvp at its best.

CCP wants there to be more in low sec. I want there to be more in low sec. Hell, if I could do my own thing in low sec I would be in low sec right now.

The problem is that low sec, as it exists right now, doesn't let me. So, I generally avoid the place. I think that both stronger and weaker NPC defenses would change things. Those changes may well give me a chance to do my own thing.

One thing I do know is that the way you support piracy isn't the removal of defenive stratagems, but increasing the quality and range of prey available. Why are Caribbean Pirates remembered and East Indian Pirates forgotten? Because the Caribbean Pirates had the phat loots. They had the big paydays with the Treasure Fleets, and those paydays spawned a much larger, more complex, and more comprehensive network of prates.

Eve needs to make is plausible for miners, carebears, and all manner of high sec fauna to get into and out of low sec with a much stronger sense of security than they have today. That way, and only that way, piracy in low sec will prosper. Even if it is undescribably different than the environment is like today.

This is right, make some changes in low sec, adjust risk vs reward, and whatever necesary to make players more interested in that space, people will be moving more to low and pirates will have more targets.
