Maybe Unifex could come in this thread and explain the reason for this BS.

Must be a good reason , i am curious.

Keeping a lot of customers happy with a certain progress and then simply shut up about it ,is hard to give a reason to it ,i guess.

So Unifex ,care to give out a good reason??

So, if we spent all our free Aurum, would this encourage more WIS stuff?

(I'm kinda saving it for something.... I'm not sure what, but something...)

I still have 2,700 AUR in this account, plus 2,000 in tokens, and likely will save them for the next batch of clothes -i still haven't lost all hope that some more of the 35 times i pre-selected in Sisi will be released to the NEx rather than be swallowed by the black hole of FW Pew-pewers (To anyone who had that idea, i would suggest to check Jita and see how many FW LP store apparel is being traded there: NONE. Congratulations on giving to the unwanting and TARFU the willing...).

Being overly realistic about my chances to be pleased with anything that CCP does, my current guess on the next batch of clothes is that the black "Structure" dress which Ish has been waiting for since Incarna will end up in some godawful LP store...

(Jesus, I can't help to ooze bitterness each time I write as much as a couple words on WiS... why, CCP, why? *double facepalm*)

You misunderstood me... all joking aside... I simply don't see the point in buying fancy clothes (for real money or a s-load of ISK), if I'm only able to wear them in the CQs...

I don't really see why people insist so much on that devblog - CCP doesn't really have anything to win by getting people's hopes up for something that may or may not be delivered in 1 - 2 years.

We had a few of such "long-term" blogs during the last year (null-sec revamp & tiericide off the top of my head) and response to them was very positive at first but turned sour (to the point that CCP would probably have been better off not publishing them at all) after just a few months.

12+ months from the point that management gives a "go ahead" decision and it is uncertain whether management actually wants to give green light or not... you are just asking CCP to provide another cross that we can crucify them on 3-6 months after the devblog has been published.

There also is a very obvious "office politics" angle to this - there is a fine line between "just trying to gauge player interest" (which is very important & valuable work) and "rallying angry players to bypass regular decision processes and pressure management into allocating more resources to my pet project".
Rank and file developers banding together with users against management is absolutely poisonous to any company as both devs and users have only very limited knowledge of the overall strategic plans and restrictions that influence management decisions and it is all too easy to rally a pitchfork carrying mob because "management is obviously wrong and ignores me".

Keep on being vocal about what you want to see happening in EVE.

We're not stopping work on anything, just not allowed to talk as openly as we have been and would like to about what we have been working on.

Is this still on the "gauging interest" side of the line?

Provided that CCP is making me pay for all kind of bullshit I don't give a damm of, I think that being ripped of my worthy money is not an issue I have with CCP. At least as long as they give me 3 months of subscription for 30 euros, that is.

If we could just dump 30k or so bitter vets we could make some nice changes to the game and bring in 100,000s of new players.

The bitter vets complain about all changes, they are keeping this game stagnant and as the years pass it will just fade away.

It haves the same goal as learning to make up your avatar: personal rewards, in the wide sense of the word.

I run several instances of eve in my computer and i always turn the station environment off. The game runs pretty faster with that **** off.

I would love to pilot my ship with a joystick, for example. Making this a true game of spaceships. Not just spam clicking the screen as a ******. Actually maneuvering. That would be a great improvement, and not a second life inside EVE.

You should really consider that about 100% of the people on this planet don't really dictate their lives around what you like or how you like to do things.

I personally play several clients and I do use the station environment. For you to feel that the entire community should be deprived of gameplay and graphical advancement because of your personal situation is pathetic.

WiS only adds to Eve and does not take 1 thing away from the core idea of the game. Complaining about something like this indicates a severe character issue that you are going to have to sort out for yourself.

Most companies would just continue to develop their software to meet the current technology standards not really caring that you are trying to use a 10 year old computer. CCP on the other hand has done a very good job of trying to meet the demands of the entire playerbase while trying to keep advancing the game in a manner that won't spark complaints from fat elitist losers that simply can't wrap their minds around the reality of "if you don't like it, nobody is forcing you to use it".

Simply put, Eve needs WiS. If you don't like it, you are more than welcome to turn your station environment off and live your lonely life in your pod...nothing changes for you so your complaints are no more relevant than farts in the wind.

Of course. This is why I've been subbing and unsubbing my accounts since past october.

How do any of the avatar changes change the gameplay even slightly?
