I hope you guys will still use them, but if you really don´t want them, you will be able to turn them off (so it's new awesome tooltips or no tooltips).

I hope that will work for you guys :)

How did a simple disable function miss launch? Did you guys really assume that people would be ok with huge windows displaying next to no useful information would be accept by the masses? Also it's very buggy and the tool tips windows often get stuck in the top left of my screen...

Anyway, i'm glad to see that you're correcting your short sightedness.

CCP assumes that opinions opposing changes always fall under the 'afraid of change' category.

I also would like the ability to turn this off. Great for newbs and good for default to be set to "on". but i know how to use a calculator and have been playing 6 years. I'd like to be able to turn this off in general settings. I cannot check this as I am at work. Has anyone found a way to turn it off? OR if there is no way to do so, are we going to be given that option in the near future?

Thanks!

We are looking into this Smile
(as Soundwave says, we might end up going just with a delay, we'll see tomorrow if we feel we need both)

nevermind, and thank you for adding this. Again this is great for those who are new and I could see myself turning them on to check some things but I'd likely leave them off. I about shat myself everytime something new pops up on the screen in EVE, because I'm high strung like that lmao o7

Thanks for considering the addition of the extra flexibility.

I think most of us realize that often "simply add the ability to disable this" isn't doable, or at the least much more difficult that it would appear to be. Hopefully this won't be too difficult to impliment.

I think it's a bit silly for people to claim that nobody but noobs will use this.

Yes, noobs will benefit from this... then people tend to become specialized in certain fits for a while in their character advancement and likely will have this info memorized.

However many people fail to realize that you get past that specilized stage and eventually get to the point where you can easily have dozens, if not hundreds, of differently fit hulls in your hanger. Memorizing all of the pertinent information then becomes impossible and these tips become a godsend again.

So yeah, if you are a Falcon pilot and have everything you need memorized thats great, but you will eventually progress beyond that point and you'll appreciate the quick availability of the info at a glance again.

Yeah, I'll enjoy my awesome clean and tidy look a lot by turning them off.

You guys should really adopt the idea of making such controversal stuff optional from the very beginning instead of force-feeding us with it.

Incarna, Drone damage notifications, 'improved' UI - the list goes on...

Ugh

Instead of just an option to disable could you give us something more like a tooltip wait timer so that we can dictate how long they take to show up? That way we could set -1 for them to never show up (or check a box I suppose), 0 for instant tips, and any other more reasonable number for the rest of us.

I really like this idea.

Wow what a speedy response from the two of you. I enjoy the pop up info, and the slight delay does seem like a very good idea. This has been a very good patch for me so far.

this tooltip assumes that new players don;'t know what they fit on their ships. That is pretty offensive, imho.

And why the icons ??

No, stop, ive had enuff of this thread already

There is nothing wrong with ccp has done and ill be damned if sum idiot pvper is gonna start a thread nought because you feel slighted over a change that is designed for new players

1. the text and size is fine, if u cant read it, get glasess
2. it is not offensive, i often forget what mods ive got on a ship when im out in it alot

so go away and stop wasting ccps time with your attention seeking crap

some idiot pvper?

The tooltips do not assume you are idiots. The whiny responses in this thread proves people are idiots. Imagine you are a new player, you have multiple ammo types for your guns and want to double check your range, or what module is fitted, stuff like that. New players are not idiots, they are just new, so how about people stop whining about every inconceivable thing and get on with playing the game.

Cutter, feel free to start making good posts any time now. Seriously, make good posts.

I like being able to see stuff like range and missile flight time by just looking down. Missile stuff is especially nice, as I generally used ballpark estimates to figure out when I was in missile range. Now I know exactly when to open up.

My monitor is pretty big so I don't mind their size, but if I was stuck with a little laptop screen I can see where it would get annoying. I think the best solution is where you have to hover over it with your mouse for two or three seconds to see the tip.

Overall though, the tooltips are great. Thanks devs!

Edit: I just realized that I no longer have to worry about checking range when I switch ammo types. :-)

This really - I understand CCP can't maintain all kinds of redundant systems like the old inventory etc..., but a simple option to turn something off would be nice.

Can't say I dislike them yet and they're certainly a good addition for newcomers, but I guess I'd turn them off sooner or later as I play with an enabled tactical overlay anyway (and know the ranges and falloffs of items I use from the top of my head).

I like the tool tips. I agree that they are a bit too large. I agree that there should be an option to disable these for the players that want to do to.

With that out of the way:

Option to enable/disable and adding configurable delay would make this feature totally awesome and cool Big smile
