I wouldn't mind playing Day Z in space ruins tbh. All needed gamepley will be there as soon as 2 or more players are in the same ruin.

I don't want anything special or new. The "on-foot exploration" sounds pretty cool, but it's bizarre to say the least. This is something that would take a relatively large amount of resources to complete for something considered 'functional'.

What happened to what was originally "promised" or hinted at? Such as social venues and the ability to prospect real-estate for stuff like in-station "pubs" or casinos. Also, the "war room" stuff. This is all easier to do than actual "combat gameplay" shown in the "survival horror exploration".

I would like both, but it seems odd that.. in answer to the disappointment that was Incarna, and in response to the overwhelming 'uprising' to what was received, they've decided to consider something that would take more resources to complete.


Whatever happens.. no matter what you do in the "avatar" department, you will still have Goons types, and the sociopath types, frothing at the mouth if you don't exclusively add ships and stuff that only "Null Blobs" can use. The barge changes alone are proof of this. If 'avatar' and Incarna stuff can be added piecemeal to future updates without diminishing FiS content, then I don't see the problem here.

No. I did suggest to implement the ability to dance coordinately following dance standards (and already figured a few ways to implement that within EVE's technical limitations).

By the way, that technology would allow to implement formation flying and squadron maneuvering in space, thus opening a door to fleet-based area of effect bonus and/or handicaps... all without line of sight firing or joystick flying.

You know, a man and a woman revolve around each other as music plays in a station... and outside there, whole fleets struggle to maneuver into "bonus" formation/position to overcome the odds and win a battle against a disorganized gang.

It's the same principle.

All the talk about how we are more than spaceships made me remember a comic strip I saw many years ago. I think it was called "May Stars!" The characters were all space objects, you never saw a person. They included:

A starship that looks like the original starship Enterprise
A sentient asteroid
A sailing ship ("Sail on! Sail on! I said." "Right over the edge?" " Yup, right over the edge".)
The pod from 2001: A space odyssey ("Have you seen a monolith?" "Try the next transdimensional hyperspace duct on the left")

My google-fu was insufficient to find it. Anyone know if there is any record of it, anywhere?

Personally I am a paying customer and am in favour of Incarna. However although I do want them to continue work on it, I also want them to take their time. This seems to be their new direction as they explained at Fanfest '12. So I hope to see a really cool expansion at a later date that will greatly expand Incarna and give us a new social dimension to EVE as was the original creative vision.

Sorry for the radio silence for the past couple of weeks, I've been variously ill, spraining ankles and on holiday.

I've got bad news about the devblog we promised. It's been swallowed by the black hole of corporateness and won't be seeing the light of day for the foreseeable future. The team have been as vocal as we can about the merits of putting it out but to no avail. We're continuing to try and work out a way of showing you work we're proud of and think you will like but for now our hands are completely tied. Sad

Well, thanks for the heads up, as disappointing as it is, better to get
any news(even bad) rather than silence.

Just reading through the CSM minutes I get the answers I wanted anyhow.
Basically nothing at all from WiS untill 2013, which likely means late 2013
ie. Winter Release, for which we may as well say 2014. Add to that the fact
there seems to be a complete lack of desire to even talk about Social Areas
I really have seen enough.

You know what, just remove the effing CQ then untill you have something to add to it
because for people who wanted WiS it is just a bitter reminder of a failed experiment
that got halted because CCP misunderstood why all those people unsubbed, and for
new players it's just confusing as to why they have an avatar if it is just stuck in one
room and does nothing.

What would you suggest we do as a community?
Start a petition? Buy more Aur? Unsub?

This is one of the big draws to Eve for me. I'd like to support it if there's any way to.
