So as you may or may not be aware, the CFC/HBC led by everyones favorite alliance, goonswarm federation attacked Delve/Querious/Period Basis last month and evicted the residents. Hostilities are still fairly hot with the residents of Catch; Against All Authorities, primarily with AAA attacking some TEST space in Querious and TEST returning the favor.

This was a broadcast sent out from goonswarm jabber earlier:

(12:07:10 PM) directorbot@goonfleet.com/directorbot: For those who weren't on today's whaling op, you should take a look at this corp history: http://evemaps.dotlan.net/corp/The_Dark_Tribe/alliances

The Dark Tribe are the AAA corp who supply subsidised Tengus and Lokis to their alliance. They were therefore very rich indeed. A GIA agent, Mr W33ds, helped by his able assistant Leykab, both of Bat Country, infiltrated them, worked his way to the top over a period of months, was made full director and was then left in charge this week.

W33ds (who is like Arghy but less lucid, but turns out to be an amazing social engineer) and Leykab stole what looks close to 100 billion ISK of corp wallet, ships, modules, t3 components, titan components and more. They emptied wormhole POSes of capitals. W33ds was given a super. They invited a slew of awoxing alts and Dabigredboat led them around through AAA space killing something north of 100 ships. The Dark Tribe have been booted from AAA, and since they allowed a known Goon scammer to take control they might have some explaining to do.

A fuller post will come later with screenshots of proceeds and more, but the message is: come in Agents 33ds and Leykab, mission accomplished. To Test, this is another gift to help you in your new foreverwar.

Now, the GIA needs new agents to win a titan's worth of prizes.

*** This was a broadcast from Endie to all-all, replies are not monitored ***

Certainly not the largest heist in EVE, but still a considerable amount. I'm looking forward to seeing the full story which will hopefully be up soon.

Now you have done it. By posting CAOD material in Eve Genreal you are going to cause a rift in the space-time continuum.

Pure ossum! It's events like this that got me interested in playing Eve, and reading stories like this is what made me pull the trigger a couple of months ago and create an account!

Kudos to the spies and scammers!

Yes, you too can meta-game eve online and take advantage of others trust. *claps*

Sorry, its been done so often, its not really impressive anymore. The world if full of douches, and dumbass that give them control over their assets. When their is no way to retaliate, and its ultimately a game where you can just sell your clone or make a new one, it invites that sort of behavior.

True, which is something that I actually really enjoy about this game. Any other game out there will slap you with a ban for infiltrating a guild, pack, fellowship, troop, herd, whatever, but in Eve gutting your enemy from the inside is just another move in the playbook.

I think the ability to infiltrate invites the behavior, not the clone selling or making.

Tengu's and Loki's are a staple of ~elite pvp~ in Eve Online. It appears that a few months ago, this corporation launched a WH campaign to be able to supply side these ships to the alliance. I even recall some bragging posts by members of -A- after welping a couple of these T3 fleets in Delve that they had an infinite supply thanks to their WH fellows.

Now we know from the Dunning-Kruger effect initially applied to AAA by The Mittani, these folks consider themselves to be the best of the best at what they do. This game, pvp, the metagame, everything. While in reality being terrible and failing miserably in a campaign against people that are admittedly terrible at this game like GSF Smile

Now after welping a couple of the T3 fleets to goons in Delve, -A- put them away, fled Delve and retreated back to Catch. With a lack of any real fights to be had in the region, and some annoying gnats biting at some moons back home, GSF goes home to Deklein secure in the knowledge that AAA is infiltrated 6 ways from Sunday.

Brilliant.

When meta-gaming has taken over the game, and skills and ability no longer matter...is it still a spaceship game? Shocked

They weren't having a good time in wh space either. Every time we (wh corps/alliances) found one of their systems, they got cleared out. No fight and a lot of self destructing each time.

Regardless, well played by Goons. Stories like that make me smile. Pirate

I create a new account, I spend 6 months in your corp and get roles. I steal everything and the kitchen sink. I transfer the isk to my main. Your none the wiser, and could sell or biomass the clone. You can't retaliate. Even if you do not, what can I do to you? It has already been declare a violation of the rules to war-dec any and every corp you join until you quit. So their is precious little to do. Even if my clone was years old, i can sell it and buy a new one. There really is no penalty to it. The rules encourage the meta-gamming aspect of the game.

And that is fine. But I can't see lauding people for their achievements in betraying someone else's trust as a noteworthy one. As i said, its been done before. Now if their was a way to connect characters to particular accounts in a way that did not compromise that accounts security, and to track what accounts a character has belonged to. At lest then their is a risk of the account being blacklisted. I do think the minimal risks invite the behavior, not the ability to lie. That has been around for a long time.

Well for starters, you won't get roles from me and even if you did there's nothing to steal because we don't use the corp hangar. Regardless of that however, it's my job to catch you before I bring you into the corp. Corp history, full API's, interviews, applications. There's a cartoon out there somewhere that references how different it is to get into a corp in Eve as opposed to other games. By the if I recall correctly, full API shows other characters on an account thought most spies are usually ran on a separate account.
Now even with all of the firewalls in place a person can still snake through and get into a good position. It happens. However there are ways of figuring out who did it. And when I asked what to your statement what I meant to say was that I was completely stupefied at that you hadn't thought of waiting six months and then pulling the exact same stunt on them when they let their guard down. Yes you heard correct, a form of retaliation was right there in your very own sentence. Not all wars are fought with guns.

But whatever, I enjoy these stories more than the standard battles because I think its takes more skill on the spy to get to where they need to be to pull it all off than it takes for a gun like me to push F1. Some of these OP's have taken over a year to complete but the payoff can truly be crippling as opposed to my week of chasing you down and hoping you don't just dock for 5 hours.
