Show info sucks doesn't it?

I mean seriously. it's not very helpful it's big list of numbers that make newer players confused. And I don't think we should put the blame on the info or the new players, eve is complex, stupid people who don't like complex stuff leave. That should always be true.

But the show info window has not aged well. Even the eveopedia entry is kinda... poorly designed.

You have to go all over the place to get vital information on the ship. I've been around 7 years I don't think it's to bad, but I can still say objectively it has a lot of room for improvement. And my reasoning for this happened when I was looking at show info and the fitting window at the same time. All of that info is so neatly packaged in the fitting window.

So the basic idea here is, make the show info look more like the fitting window. Make sure it's not larger than current, but allows for information to be easy to find and fast, easy on the new players to see the way UI elements in both places to tie them together. also you can minmise sections so if you only want to see which battleship has the most cap, or so on.

Also the fitting tab could now be removed and added to the tab for ship stats, bring the UI clutter down just a bit.

i think it's fine as it is. i logged in to wow today for the first time in months and i was immediately struck down by the stupidity of the playerbase. hell i'd rather read jita local for 24hs straight than spend an hour idle in wow having to read general chat.
wow is what happens when you give players everything on a plate and remove the need for them to want to improve their skill/knowledge for the sake of doing so.

It isn't great, to be honest. Just grouping up the values a little more sensibly would help - why are optimal and falloff not paired together, for example?

ok then we should replace the fitting window information with a giant list of text going down with 80% of the space wasted on the right, your a genius Dave!

oh wait that's right, it was that way, and they replaced it with the new fitting window. derp. While your at it, don't forget to ask for the old ship turret models, old nebula, and warp effect.

Making the fitting window harder to read and more confusing is the best way to make eve more immersive and smart. Because as well all know, the more confusing something is to read, the more complex it is! right? right?

Exactly. or the mass isn't listed with speed, but is listed with speed in the fitting window.

Also even if they use the old layout, there is no reason the 4 resistances are all listed in ONE line. Side by side.

I am biased. I've gotten so used to "show info" that I can find the stats I want in seconds.


However, this change would not be negative. SO no reason to oppose it.

Its about a simple, easy to interpret, window that is not a mile long that already exists for the same info within the attributes.

It certainly could use a few more tabs and a couple more rclick menu options, that's for sure…

…unfortunately, the current design seems to be moving in a different direction. P

yup I can find it easy to. it was only when I showed it a new player, who rocks the game now, and he was really confused by the show info window. He asked why it was easier to see his stats in the fitting window. And I had no answer for him, so here I am.

It's been requested before :) it would be a lot of work for the devs who has to change it... but it would be one of those things that we would be happy about in the long run if done correctly...

no, i want them to leave because it is easy to interpret and if they can't interpret it well... there's no hope for them.

show info gives you a list of attributes with their values, it is in no way complex at all. the hardest part of it is scrolling down far enough to find what you want. if you hate scrolling just make the window bigger.

What I miss most of all is what they implemented for the PI products: an entire linked list of the production chain.

It would be very nice if each item had a “produced by / used in” tab, so if you look at that Rifter, you can see that it comes from a Rifter blueprint (linked, and with rclick-show market details immediately available like any linked item), and that you can use it as an ingredient in Wolf and Jaguar blueprints (linked, and with standard rclick functionality).

Sure, it'll be interesting when you get to something like trit, which will list roughly everything under the sun, but still…

rofl at saying eve ships aren't complex. That's what makes the game fun.

also you can't make the window big enough so you don't have to scroll. It turns something simple like comparing different ships into a nightmare.

What moon is basicly asking for is not to simplify the show info windows/ui... but merely use the space more efficiently and put related stats next to eachother instead of spread out in a long list

The order the different attributes isn't always consistent. I can't think of any examples right now but it's something that bugs me.
