Logging off should not be a viable tactic (nor should self destruction)

I am very happy this change is being made. As a corollary, I would love to see a change in the KM/self destruct mechanic such that if you are aggressed inside your self destruct timer, the KM is no longer sent to you (as the highest damage dealer) but to the next highest. This would be similar to the gate gun mechanic. In this way, capitals cannot avoid the meta game reward that is a killmail for the attacking team by self destructing.

Self destruction should be a mechanic so the pilot can get out of lost in space situations, not a way to troll other players.

I believe that the offline/warp-out and self destruct options are quite stupid and for some situations the easy way to get out of situations. I think changes need to be made, such as:

1. If a ship is being warp disrupted or warp scrambled and the pilot offlines, that ship should NOT be able to warp out at anytime. The pod of the offlined pilot will be designated invincible and non-targetable and warp out after destruction instantly.

2. Self-destruction should only be an option when the ship has no more than 4 regular warp disruption points on it or a single HIC warp script point OR a new high slot module that disrupts a self-destruction countdown when initiated.

Since warp disruption disables the ability to control warp....then being able to bypass that by vanishing from the eve plane of existance shouldnt be an option.

It's not about a normal DC....it's more about pilots who are scrambled in motherships or titans, smaller frigates that have a BS scrambled in a belt where the pilot disconnects on purpose to use that game mechanic to practically guarentee their escape after 15 minutes. The system has its purposes but is also flawed in its ability to be exploited.

and noone is "Mad Bro" It's a valid gameplay exploit that many pilots exploit to survive a bad situation. I have seen this used 5+ times and the self destruct one used dozens of times to avoid killmails.

if you catch a too big fish, you cant kill, its primarily your problem.
Why should the ship owner now allowed to blow up his ship??

1. Known fact, ship self destruct is 2 minutes

2. Known fact, "fly what you can afford" -- slighty off topic but it applies to the idea "you have knowledge of the situation at hand, therefore you are responsible for the resulting actions"

3. According to 1, you have 2 minutes to destroy a ship. According to 2, you have knowledge of 1 and are responsible to counter 1. That means, you either plan to bring WTFBBQFACEPUNCH!!!11!!! DPS or you loose the fight.

No one is responcible or obligated to provide you killmails, cause amazingly your not obligated through some rule to inform your target your about to gank them. If you want the km, then damn you should ask me for a fight and let me decide if I am interested or not....oh wait this is EVE you don't have to ask so I am not obligated to do anything nice in return. This is EVE, no one ******* care about the other guy.

Two minutes is more then enough to destroy a ship, provided you have enough damage to do so. If you don't have enough damage, then damn why should I stick around waiting for the inevitable destruction of my ship and let me speed it up for you. Once its gone its gone and will be difficult to replace, just relize that maybe you forced my hand like a bully and I might be crying bitter tears as you make me execute my little plastic men for you entertainment....oh wait I just wanted to see your tears Roll

1. Goon Jihad
2. Hulkaggeddon
3. Corp Theft
4. Alliance Disbandment
5. Scaming
6. Low/Nullsec -> Shoot first, pod second, b*tch on forums third you have no targets. Lets not forget you might of just popped a 2 day rookie into oblivion.

I could continue, but pretty much every action in EVE is trolling another player. No one feking cares if you think its an exploit and unfair for someone to just take their ball and go home. This is EVE, there is no sportmanship.

Self destruct is not an easy way out, its the easy way to let you win. If I destroy my ship, you won. That ship is gone and difficult to replace. I just love the fact that it brings tears to your eyes, bile in your throat, and you just want to scream at being deprived of a winning record to pin on you bill board even though you won. Good fight Roll
