Some of the ships have a recommended tab for certifcations.
For example these do:
Vexor, Ares Helios , Iteron Mark V. Big smile

These don't:
Talos, Orca, Obelisk, Rorqual, Noctis, Machariel Sad
Helion Dhamphir

Well apart from the noctis and talos, you really should know what you're doing, without the help of certificates, when you are able to use those ships.

Well if you think of it from perspective on setting that ship as a target to train for - and being a relative newbie - you want to make sure you can kit it out effectively so as to not lose you investment straight away... That's my thoughts.

The problem here is perception and opinion it seems. You think of certificates as "end all be all" which they are not. They are in the vaguest sense directions.

The other problem with that you seem to ignore is: wtf are you wanting to fit?!!?!?!?!? Shocked
Literally, the biggest problem you ignore. Yes in your head this topic made sense but practically it doesn't.
What do you want the ship to do?
Solo versus group?
Close range versus long range fighting?
Buffer versus active tank versus mobility?
Who is bringing ECM and who is bringing the ice cream?

To make certificates remotely useful they would have the 'pathing' to give you all these things somehow without needlessly confusing people...... and then you would still have problems with the generic cookie cutter fitting.

Instead, just like the original sandbox idea, go out. Get one, fit it, and ask friends / corpmates if this would work / ask them ahead of time for advice.

I don't think CCP has much touched certificates since they introduced them...
