Pod Poison: Is your pod killing you?

Pro-longed exposure to pod poison will cause you to die in space, and lose your implants.

Pod Poisoning is caused by the dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane located within the pod solution. It appears CCP simulates this with a random timer that will eventually kill you inside your own pod. In a series of tests we have demonstrated that pods left within the relative safety of the Jita 4-4 undock experience intermittent destruction, most pods will be destroyed after 4 to 6 hours of unattended testing.

The remedy to this is clearly limiting the amount of time spent flying around in your pod. This can be accomplished through the use of ships or even a simple shuttle. The more we protect ourselves the easier it will be for everyone to enjoy spaceflight without the inherent risks of pod poison.

Fly smart, use protection, pod poison affects us all.

The ship is controlled from within the pod.

Countless studies by space hippies has overwhelmingly concluded that no one has ever died from excessive pod consumption. Which is more than I can say for alcohol or cell phones.....in fact I say we ban cell phones outright, I've never known a person who didn't die from inhaling one.

You make a valid point, good Sir or Madam.

Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane? The banned insecticide DDT?

Dude... can insects survive in pod goo? Can insects infest a pod left in hard vacuum? If they can, then I don't think DDT is going to be of much use against such hardy creatures, so poisoning oneself with DDT is something only a stupid pod pilot... oh. Posting in a Tom Gerard thread.

This topic brings to light another dangerous substance that should be banned: Dihydrogen Monoxide.

Look it up. Dihydrogen Monoxide has killed millions. Breathing or smelling it will kill you. It is completely tasteless, yet commonly found in food. EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER INGESTED IT HAS DIED.

Hell, Dihydrogen Monoxide is what is currently dissolving the Grand Canyon in the United States.

Please, Like my post if you want to ban Dihydrogen Monoxide.

Frankly, we need to get rid of this dangerous chemical before it can dissolve everything. DID YOU KNOW THAT THE AVERAGE DIHYDROGEN POISONING SUFFERER CONSISTS OF 61.8% OF THIS POISON WHEN THEY DIE?

"We will create the introduction thread if that is requested by the community. Also, we will have an ISD Seminar about the CCL team in the coming weeks in which you can ask your questions about the CCL team and provide some constructive feedback to us." - Countless pages of locked threads and numerous permabanned accounts later, change is coming.

No but I knew a frying pan has the potential to kill a star.

The universe is full of these enders of worlds... How can we hope to compete? Sad

Yes, I have podded many players with a cell phone. The biggest problem is getting them to inhale it...

Don't sugar coat it. Exposure to, or just being near, large amounts of the substance can lead to epidermal burning, increased risk of shark attacks, and it facilitates the movement of toxic waste and dangerous micro-biological organisms into close contact with humans.

It burns your mind in order to scan it, though if you don't die shortly after of exposure you can be left a vegetable.

I'm sure if we got the boys over at Vector Marketing to switch from knives to frying pans we'd have enough ammunition. Gotta make sure its cast iron though, none of this new age diamond coated teflon BS.

You're probably misdiagnosing. Did you consider a fast acting ISD (Inflamed Spleen Dementia) disease might be to blame? Check the logs to see if the pilots where talking about forum moderation in local before they expired. An ISD would cause them to appear locked in place, which would have triggered extreme quarantine protocols to minimize the risk of infection to the community.

Confirming that too much dihidrogen monoxide will kill you. If you try to breathe in a good 5 litres of it, in its liquid form, you will be dead very quickly. However fortunately there are a whole bunch of organic molecules that appear to be resistant to this fearsome chemical - the lipids. I suggest everyone coat themselves in butter to prevent accidental dihidrogen monoxide poisoning!

You want to know something worse? I hear that this stuff is both a weak acid AND a weak base! Truly we must eradicate the dihidrogen monoxide problem.

I heard regular ingestion of Quafe Zero mitigates these effects.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)
