Really? Things seemed to be a lot worse. We already lost one of the most awesome posters on GD. And woke up ever pilot/troll with Liberty in his/her heart or just plain anarchists. Down with the machine!

I actually think they are doing good job, since most of the locked threads I saw are just full of crap.

Most of those threads exist to protest their actions in legitimate threads!

Be that as it may, most things that fall under general discussion can be put in the "crap" category. However I would have thought it is still a discussion.

Discussions are usually a waste of words that are random crap and the forcing of one's opinions down another's throat. That just life.

well it wasn't chribba, but yes, 2 posts were locked and their OP assaulted with poorly chosen cut-n-pastes of rules that didn't even apply to the post. One was some random newb just asking how to tuck his shirt in, the other was a game question that was immediately locked and the OP was directed to post his comments in a locked thread.

then a mini riot started

Then I showed up and asked who was in charge of artistic design decisions and it was locked for "no content"

When I trier to contact the ISD I was hit with a CPSA charge.
when I complained about the charge my post was locked and the ISD posted some blather about I should send in a petition if I felt they were "overstepping their mandate"

I spent the last 2 days cataloging personal paperwork relating to a Jewish family escaping nazi germany in 1939, call me sensitive but this was more totalitarianism than I could personally stomach from people who I pay money to.

So then the riot went hardcore
I'll probably be banned within the week, but I already unsubbed in protest so I don't really care .

now you know what the forum guard does for you

Thank you for the in-depth response. That does seem a bit OTT. Well if CCP know anything about customer service then they are likely aware that for good customer service no-one gives a damn. for bad customer service (this includes forum responses and actions from people working "on behalf of" the company, paid or not is irrelevant as that person become the proverbial face of the company) on average a person tells 10 others if statistics are to be believed.

However with the age of the internet and forum warriors this kind of behavior by people who are acting on CCP's behalf is open to be viewed by millions.

So I guess the question is do CCP want to clean up the forum by putting people in a position of power and making the company look bad (changes to posting rules or not) or do CCP want to have a bit of a messy forum and look better to the average person who may become a paying customer?

I think you could have handled this with more finesse, it takes two to tango. But the particular ISD who intervened with you seemed more like a troll than a mod. Not even the capricious SA or 4chan mods act like that. He was locking topics because you started them or posted in first page.

While not part of my own petition's initial complaint, your case is one of the test cases, and the most blatant in terms of the ISD losing it and going full readtard. Is as if a forum troll suddenly got the banhammer. Fail.

I'm proud that I was not part of the Great Spam which inducted a record of nearly three pages.
As much as I like taking playful jabs and raise CCP's blood pressure, what happened was just pure malice which not a big fan of doing so. Even though y'all were joking around, it's was unnessacary. It's the Internet for crying out loud. ;)
Cheers to sensible peoples.

It was either that, or suck the CEO's ****.

When Bon Scott died and he appeared before St. Peter at the gates of Heaven, St. Peter looked at his record and told him he couldn't get in. Just then, God screams at Peter, "Let him in, Karen Carpenter is driving me nuts. I want to hear some music with balls. We'll haggle over the paperwork later." At least I hope that's what happened.

Yep. That sounds like mature adults happened to both sides. Delusions of grandeur for some, rampaging entitlement for others, and a good fun forum mess for everyone.

The problem with being a moron, is that you are a moron.

This forum is full of them. Typically what happens is one of them gets a little attention so the rest think it's cool and try to do the same. The same phenomena can be seen in those that sign up for reality shows with the moronic reasoning that any attention is good. These are people who revel in being humiliated publicly.

A sad reflection on modern society.
