Which way do you turn your recruitment funnel?

My corp is recruiting, and it's not easy (as you all know).

That we are a w-space corp don't make it better since we only have access to half of the corporate functionality that a empire or 0.0-corp have, if that.

You could make the argument that you could have two main philosophies for recruitment (that's the oversimplification of the year, bear with me).

  1. You make it really easy to join, but you have a well defined trial/prospect system and you make sure you get rid of the ones that don't qualify. This is the big-funnel approach.

  2. You do all kinds of checks for personality before you accept anyone into corp and try to find the right recruits and reject the others. Often you do not have such a strict trial-system, if you made it into corp, you are in. (the funnel turned the other way around).

I write a bit more detailed about this on my blog.

I realise that most recruitment schemes are a bit of both, but which one do you relate to most? How does your funnels look like?

collect a security deposit from prospective members, 500m is usually good enough to weed out potential spies

Thanx for that.

But I'm sorry guys, big 0.0 alliances don't count, you are not that representative for the typical Eve-corporation. Even if you sometimes think you are the game Roll

Simpler still then; Do you mainly try to filter out unwanted recruits before or after they join your corp?

the typical eve corporation is a tax-dodging personal corp whose membership consists of a mission runner and his alts

you can recruit selectively and have vouch requirements and "no roles" trial periods and that's still not going to filter out all of the potential spies and idiots, but you're less likely to log in one day and find empty wallets and corpmails screaming "who took all of my stuff from the 5-2 CHA"

being good with recruitment is only part of the process, another part is "don't hand out roles blindly"
