Missile "In-Flight" Counter

Ok, so I'm usually against introducing anything that makes Eve "easier", but there is one thing that really bugs me about missiles: having to count how many you've fired and when they last landed. This becomes especially annoying when you're fighting at extremely long range.

It would be nice to have an optional indicator somewhere showing how many missiles you currently have in flight.

Pretty short proposal, but as long as people don't feel it would dumb down missiles too much I think it would be a nice addition.

First of all, why do you need that information? And second, nr of inflight missiles == nr of launchers you just activated? If you need to know when they landed, why not use the log that shows the damage when they hit? Don't get me wrong, I'm not trolling you, just trying to understand your idea.

If you're gonna post here thinking your idea is the greatest thing since bacon and that it will save EVE and possibly all humankind with it, you're gonna have a bad time.

Cerberus pilot detected.

I agree though, maybe there could be a tiny animation on the target indicator showing little blips (missile volleys) moving toward a blip on the edge (the target).

Personally I'd like to have a missile camera.

It's a PvE thing mostly, shots get wasted because you have no idea how many volleys are in the air as it varies dependent on range, ship and fitting. Meaning that even if you know the enemy will die in three more shots, you sometimes end up firing considerably more.

When you're fighting at the outermost stretches of your range (100+km for my Tengu) you can have quite a few volleys in the air, and it becomes quite common to fall short on destroying a target or to fire too many shots. Checking the logs doesn't help very much because there's no way of knowing which impact on target corresponds with which volley fired.

Ah I understand now. Yeah i ran into that as well in missions when missiles were still in flight but the target died 2 volleys ago.So I practiced until I could accurately approximate when to stop firing. Now I never miss a volley.

It's one of those veteran vs new players kinda thing. Although I wouldn't mind missiles being more visible on their trajectory to spill death (they kinda are now due to smoke trails), I sure wouldn't want to make it too easy for everyone.

I support this wholeheartedly. As a missile ship pilot in PVE, I find it so aggravating knowing the exact cost of each of my volleys and the amount of time wasted in missions where my volleys whiz off into space because a ship blew up because I mis-counted. It adds this amazing chore to missioning if you don't like wasting volleys (see OCD).

Yeah, it's not too bad if you're single boxing in a standard mission. It gets exponentially more difficult the more accounts you're running and the more difficult the PvE you're engaging in is though.

As I said, I'm not usually a fan of making Eve easier, I just resent a mechanic that makes me methodically count for no apparent reason P

I've just been on a run on one of my accounts through null sec in a manticore, and even at only ~50k range trying not to waste torps got tedious after a while.
