Apparently this was only 60% confirmed, and there is only a 25% chance of that.

im curious as to why this tessellation thing is being advertised as the new big new thing, its been around for years and already used commonly.

Granted, it will look awesome in Eve, i am looking forward to see how it works, especially cruising through a roid belt in a big ass BS and the roids bouncing off the hull. nom.

Are you talking about the 2 or 4 years?

Well thing is that if you're not using high end cards (double GPU cards) or SLI/whatever tech you're going to turn that crap off, have a lot of video issues before you can stabilise your game and figure out you can't play any more with high res unless you buy new stuff.

Also: Directx9

Your wrong, I have the Asus 3 slot GTX 570 and I run Crysis 2 with the DirectX 11 patch with everything on Ultra, The high res texture package too. The GPU runs the game smooth as silk with very good frame rates.

Eve with Tesselation will be a breeze and the 570 isnt a high end card.

This.

Doubt CCP is going to re-code entire graphics engine of EVE any time soon.

v3 done lol there talking end of the damn year to get out the rest of the minmatar ships there on sisi right now but the angels they are saying are going to take untill the rest of the year.

And given how long it takes them to do anything i would say 2-3 years down the road given they keep pulling people to work on Dust and World of darkness eve it looks like is on the back burner.

They really should license their tech - it's free money.

Halldor Fannar stated that the tessellation project would take five man years. Trinity took 50 man years. So, assuming that five people are assigned to DX11 implementation, I guess it would take one year to get out of the door.

To be fair almost any decent card will run Eve at a locked 60 fps right now (unless in a huge fleet fight).

A 570 most certainly is high end. It's only one step down from the flagship of its generation (580) and has a LOT of power. It's still high end today.

A 550TI is mainstream, and to be honest I think one of those could run EVE with tesselation at 60 FPS.

It is taking so damn log because they are putting a lot of resources into Dust514. I wouldn't expect anything in the near future. We'll just get iteration after iteration after iteration and no real new content for some time.

Well before tesselation and wide screen stuff or funky stuff blahblah I rather see ships rebalance properly done, witch takes a lot more of human resource if you consider crapventory performance and usability improvement on top of it, game mechanics and industry/mining remake, sov holding and fix FW exploits, fix low sec etc.

These are things that interest me more than some chrome wheels on an old T Ford to make it prettier.

another promise from CCP ,so it will take more then that.
First it will go terribly wrong ,players will protest and shoot statues
then it will be removed for further testing and ideas
then CCP makes an Devblog with no real info about it.
later after a lot of questions they promise a new devblog
But it will never come ,bc CCP afraid of its own costumer base can,t place blogs ,until other issues are solved
