Noob Ships are Hurting the New Player Experience more than Anything.

Welcome to EVE.

Here's a ship so useless you'll only use it as a launch pad to getting a ship that isn't gimped beyond all measure.

U mad bro?

Just give all new players a free Merlin or Incursus or Rifter when they start and give noob ships when they die. By getting a useful ship when they first start EVE, they will enjoy the game and stick around. And if they lose that ship, they get their free ibis until they buy a new good frigate.

Things are only impossible until they are not.

They'll lose the Rifter pretty fast too.

Though it'll teach them about how losing stuff makes EVE hard when they get downgraded to a noobship.

OK, the concept is fine, but giving them the best T1 frigate right away? A bit overdone, don't you think? I can accept Executioner, Condor, Atron and Slasher, but not the top combat frigates.

Tell you what lets give them all a BS with the skills to match, then the complaints will be why don't we give them Titans Roll

Oh those frigates are pretty useless and won't get them far

Why don't we just give all new chars 100mil SP to allocate and a titan?

There should be a rather awesome pic here

EEEh how about no.

This is what we call the slippery slope fallacy.

This is a sandbox. If new players have a bad time playing, it's our collective fault and not CCP's. In other words, you are to blame.

As Tippia pointed out, the Tutorial Missions do give new players a frigate, some skill books, and an Indy as well. So it looks like CCP read your mind even before you thought of the idea. Pretty darn good customer service that....

To be honest I don't think there should be any tutorials in EVE.

The tutorials give at least 4 free frigates, a destroyer and a hauler.

In fact, why do we even have noob ships?

I can only imagine they keep you from ever becoming "shipless" if you have some bad luck, but surely there's another way.

yup

If you have nothing, you at least have the noobship. Your pod can't make money if you don't have any, at least the noobship can kill some frigs to make isk.
