Why won't players learn that arguments cannot be made based on "I can't/won't/didn't explain myself, but this big thing will happen?"

The exception merely proves the rule. People claimed for years that Incarna would bring hundreds of thousands of new players to EVE. This did not happen. Staying subscribed to EVE solely because of Incarna for more than one month after the launch of Incarna is lunacy. Incarna was awful and CCP is not improving it in any way for a long time. If you do anything other than log on to CQ, update skills and walk around CQ then you are subscribed for other reasons.

A downturn unarguably caused by the release of Incarna, which we are only now recovering from after a steady supply of FiS fixes and content.

Talk about setting yourself up there...

I'll decide if I agree with the 'people' once we actually get Incarna.

I don't say that EVE is dying. I say that when it dies, the WiS fiasco will be a key point to understand why.

Everything is to pass. The Goons, for an instance, likely will be gone next year. That's not doomsaying, it's just an informed hunch. And i have a nasty habit about being right with my informed hunches. Unfortunately I can't control them so it's a pretty useless talent, but, a talent nonetheless...

'Release' is pushing it, I'm not sure where that shambles started and ended? At least they're sorting out the core game for now.

I'll be very happy if I can extend my game to exploring ancient tech. with all new industry & combat based on this tech.
I'll be very sad if I get more clothes/vanity items for Aurum and a broken core game.

Hahaha.

Argument by woman's intuition. Awesome. Even better than "I could tell you, but I'm not going to", another of your powerhouse forms of argumentation.

Do you actually believe that anyone takes you seriously?

Well, I'll tell you how this thing goes... when the Goons are gone next year, I will be bloody right and will feel satisfied to have seen it coming. Conversely, if they are not gone, then nobody is going to bother to take me seriously about it.

I have to agree with this point.

We never got a functional Incarna, at least nothing that we can recognize as such.

We got an outstanding Avatar creator, and a pretty slick looking Captains Quarters... which while nice is somewhat like giving a child the stick for a lollypop without any candy on it, or the tires for a Viper and nothing to put them on.

Most of the people that say something pithy about not needing Incarna will freely admit that if we had received the Incarna we were expecting things would have gone a whole lot smoother.

But that brings us back to needing a solid plan for game play and a "sensible" allocation of development resources to be in place before anything else at this point.

If we leave Eve will be gone shortly after, WiS or no WiS.

Every time you post a WiS thread, Hilmar strangles a kitten.

Develop WiS in some small way to we interact with each other, or at the very least do something we can't already do in our spinny ship. I really hope this thread isn't locked because of troll. This topic keeps cropping up because people are interested. if people are interested it deserves attention, no one has the right to call for threads to be closed and discussion ended.

CCP overpromised and underdelivered. When they actually deliver Incarna, we'll see how well it does. If they take 12-18 months to do it right, fine. They'll have fixed Incarna that much more quickly than they fixed, say, Dominion.

Something tells you do not understand it as well. Many people heard about the WiS thing came back for only the teaser of Captin's quarters. well we all know that CCP says one thing and does another and break a few things in the process and takes YEARS to fix something that affects hundreds of players.

Now CCP said they get WiS done. You can hold your breath but i am pretty sure you will pass out before they give us something that awsome. But there were and possibly those still on the CSM who are against it that joined mittard...Mittens band wagon. I think it was him not sure with swiss cheese memory.

I think that those who have been around for many years have come to love and hate CCP like some family member that always teases its siblings. some day they will fulfill their promises. until then get your big boy pants on and go have fun.

You know, actually if CCP had simply billed the Incarna portion of the release as "a sneak peek at the Incarna experience" or as "a dry run of the underlying Incarna framework"... and had made it optional from the start... we probably wouldn't be having any of these discussions.

A common misconception and misunderstanding of what it is to play a scifi space sim. But this is a tired topic, I've posted a bajillion times in different threads about how labeling EVE as a simple "spaceship" game is probably one of the biggest oversights any one person could make.

I couldn't agree more. Here is something that came out wrong, fell hard, caused an uproar, is universally considered a failure, and yet every day we see people on here begging for it. It's something many EVE players dream about, and many more outside of EVE would kill for. It's clearly popular, and desired. If it's done correctly, and doesn't have a effect on the flying part of the game it will only change EVE for the better.
