Factional Warfare changes. Did they work?

I'd like to know what the FW players think of the changes in Inferno now that they have had time to try them out. Has participation improved?

Is FW more interesting?

It's different and change is good. Accept that inventory nonsense, that's just horrible. Made plexing worth while half the time, the other half is worse off. I would say a step in the right direction.

Do not assume anything above this line was typed by me. Nerf the Truth, it's inconvenient.

A newly started FW corp of redditors. Read all about them here: www.reddit.com/r/fweddit Looks like FW is a huge success although some issues with plexing. Haven't had much time to play but there is a lot of activity in the bleak lands. I'm on my phone so have to cut it short.

TL;DR: FW looks like a huge success but still some (minor) issues

The gallente are farming plexes with atrons fitted with nanos and a mwd and nothing else.

Things are only impossible until they are not.

Bad / incomplete.

Didn't fix the non-combat alts spinning buttons. Just incentivised it more.

Upgrading system is pointless.

Capture mechanics still favours loads of AFK PVE alts.

So are your lot.

I was giving some guy feedback on his weird ass fit and at some point the conversation went "but of course you can't count on not PVPing to capture a plex" "Oh I just AFK and play on my main then".

I don't own an atron, haven't seen one in a plex. Are you sure those are not caldari alts?

Seems to have people active again at the moment. The only problem I see is there is no reason for any side to "win" any more and take all systems. In fact after you gain the max bonus then it becomes pointless taking more systems because you can't make as much LP (the reason most people are in it and fighting)

Its pretty good really.

The implications will take a while to settle in but I reckon there is going to be a 3-4 month pendulum thing going on with warzone dominance and system captures. Right now the success of it is that its turned a fairly consequence-free geographically irrelevant joust into a strategic wargame with some funky concepts as fabian defense and internal lines theory being discussed with a straight face.

Despite all the pre-patch whining from some of the old guard I think CCP have done a very good job of mapping game-play theory into the system that rewards aggression (to a point) and then punishes over extension.

There are still unbalanced plexing npcs (some can be speed tanked easily - some cannot) and I still think there's room for improvement with more interesting system upgrades. Plenty of good suggestions for the plexing mechanics are on the warfare and tactics forum however.

A lot of people are still getting their heads round the consequence of losing docking rights in an enemy system but long term it will have an impact of making the evolving warzone something of battlefronts and shifting conflict zones in actual reflection of the war in space.

On the Minmatar / Amarrian front we're seeing a resurgent 24th Crusade who were literally pushed against the wall of their stronghold in Kamela pre-patch - but are now rapidly retaking their lost territory on the back of a fresh influx of players and the strategic advantage of "interior lines theory" (ie if your territory is small its easy to project maximal firepower at a given pressure point) and intentional imbalance of aggressive vs defensive plexing (aggressive plexing has LP rewards, defensive have no direct reward beyond the maintenance of system integrity and upgrade level). Human nature being what it is people prefer to get reward now rather than deferred gratification so there is a built in bias to offensive plexing.

Long term this will lead to the pendulum effect I spoke off where the warzones will naturally gravitate to a 50/50 state and it will take great and sustained effort to push it further to one side's advantage.

Yes, re-read your post and notice the last word. Smile

I put an nooby alt into FW and am enjoying it greatly.Big smile So far no stifling blobs, tech I and nooby viable, no bubbles, less politics, more role play (never thought i would like that, heh). And yes success is balanced against reward. I don't suspect any of the leadership, such as it is, would actually want to "win" the whole enchilada.

I'd like some more iteration on the upgrade stuff, not entirely sure how you do it given the anonymous donation system now - but I'd like there to actually be some branching choice of what upgrade gets installed at particular levels.

Also, though I do really like the current plexing size limits (dessie, cruiser, bc) I do think there should be a battleship/command ship max plex in the mix and maybe have the spawn rate 30/30/25/15 or something. Battleship level one giving a larger boost.

Do you guys have an open recruitment policy then or is it a goons thing where you have to be part of an external community?

Dreddit is a corp for members of the reddit.com community that want to do nullsec.
FWeddit is a corp for members of the reddit.com community that want to do factional warfare.

To join either you have to be a member of reddit, it's a cultural thing. We frown greatly on Eve players who make a reddit account purely for the purposes of getting into a decent Eve corp (Dreddit, decent, wolol). We call such people J4Gs (Join for Guild).

Afaik despite being from the same website there are certain cultural and operational differences between the corps. I'm not in FWeddit so I can't detail them, but I would imagine that FWeddit is less influenced by Goon culture than Dreddit is.

There are actually a lot of corps that recruit from reddit which are in no way affiliated with Dreddit.
