Well, my container says "UNLOCK" but once again...

So there is a bug that locks anything I put into containers even though I have them on eternal unlock.

And if you think I'm going to read a thousand threads to see everyone elses complaints, then screw you.

Just another thing to add to the list CCP, just tuck it into the "Trash this moronic Inventory System" bag.

Nice to see this hasn't been addressed in the upcoming fixes though, must be stumping the rocket scientist devs. GJ.

Good thing you made a bug report, am I right? :) Posting on the forum does jack. Especially when you post in GD instead of whatever Inventory thread is up. Because the devs might actually read something you put in the expected thread.

lol bug reports... after a month or two you might get a reply...
My FAVORITE reply was from CCP to a fleet mate where they reported the wing commanders not getting boosts and CCP closed the bug report saying we know about it & didn't do jack about fixing it just closed it unfixed... Roll

True. You do get replies quicker in GD. But do you get coding?

@Op,

I too have been irritated by this bug, but at least I found a way around it.

Shfit-Click a container so that it opens in a seperate window. Size it, place it but don't close it. Minimise it. Do this for all of your containers. Initially painful I know, but it alleviates the terrible locking of items placed in them.

Now when you open your Inventory, shift-click the contain you want to move things into, either from another container or from you ship cargohold.

You can shift-click any container and cargohold in this manner. Just minimise, don't close them.

In space with wrecks - Shift-Click the icon in your overview for the wreck/container. Size the window, place it. Again, don't close it. Do the 'loot' thing and the window will close itself. Next container you loot (shift-click the wreck/container icon in overview), will open same size and place as the previous one. You can also shift-click your cargohold so it has it's own window. Again, minimise, don;t close.

I hope that helps you, until CCP decide to fix the bug.

The bug happens when you drag items from say, your cargohold and drop them directly onto the target container icon on the lefthand pane of the Inventory browser. Then when you open that target container you will notice the items you just dropped in there are locked.

Bug reports aren't about getting an answer, or getting it fixed immediately. They're about giving as much information to CCP as you can give them about an issue.

Thorn, the problem the Op has is not with window position but with audit containers (like for example station containers). In these containers you have the option to "lock" an item, when it is locked it can not be removed or stacked without unlocking it. There are an option for the container for if the items that are put in will default to locked or unlocked but this option is not working.

This is made even worse by the fact that unlocking a few hundred items takes several minutes during which time the client is completely unusable.

I never said I didn't make a bug report, I did.

And anyway, this is a minor thing compared to the bloody mess that is the Unified Inventory abortion.

All you have to do here is click 'select all' and then 'unlock' and you're done. But still, it's an easy fix as soon as they get their horde of programmers on it... oh wait, that would take planning, leadership, and common sense.

Is anyone else having this problem? Maybe I should just reload the client, but not if it's all over the place.

And about resizing and minimizing your windows... ummm... no. I won't do that, and why would I do that while looting wrecks? There is a LOOT ALL button at the bottom. What serious gamer doesn't make sure they have enough room in their hold to LOOT ALL?

We want LESS CLICKS, not more. The whole system was fine the way it was, it's just hilarious that they want to keep it a way that isn't working at all.

This has been an issue with station containers for as long as I've been playing and not once has it been addressed. Get rid of them and use Freight Containers instead if possible, it's much less of a headache and you won't have to wait out 3 weeks to trash or repackage them when you're finished with them.

No, this is a new issue. I've had my station containers since I started and as long as I configure them to be Unlocked, then the new items I place in it are unlocked.

I've had the opposite experience with them, they tend to (seemingly randomly) reset state and I have to manually reconfigure them to apply the unlocked state. I gave up after about a year and a half and switched over to Freight Containers, and haven't touched them since. Sad

You know, reading your posts over the months, it appears you truly hate CCP and EVE. You have NEVER said anything positive, just spouted bile. Why then do you continue to play? Have you no other avocations?

Ah, I usually have to reconfigure my station containers after an Eve patch. :)
So perhaps that's the "randomness" you see?

This is how I've always have seen it as well. For all the bug reports that I've sent out, I have never so much as expected a response. I gave them the issue and how I got that step and that is good enough for me. What they do with that information is their issue.

Do you smell what the Lock's cooking?

Actually that would make a lot of sense, I can't believe I didn't think of that sooner. Oops

I switched also and now I can't repackage my station containers that haven't been used in a month. I hit repackage and BOOM! Nothing.

Awesomeness ensues.
