Is there any good reason for the 10 hour character termination wait?

As per the title. I resubbed to an old account today and decided I didn't like the character on it. However, I do like the character's name. Now all I have to do is wait patiently for 10 hours before I can make another toon with the same name. CCP have made some excellent changes to the game (from what I can see since resubbing). Isn't it about time you guys shortened the termination wait? Even 5 hours is better. Or do something like other games do, such as have you type out the character's name to confirm the deletion. Or ask for the password, or a secret answer to a secret question. Anything has to be better than the 10 hour wait.

Its to stop players from biomassing their players on a whim.

several times in the past ive put this character on a biomass countdown only to realise just how much time ive invested into the game and remove the counter.

It is a CCP measure to keep players who are on the brink of getting the hell out of dodge
I dont normally troll, but when i do i do it on General Discussion.

Think of it as a suicide watch.

Cyno's lit, bridge is up, but one pilot won't be jumping home.

It used to be 24 hours I seem to remember....

It exists to save the mentally weak from their own overwhelming rage, so they may reconsider and be humiliated again.

Btw, is it really possible to re-use any character name, even if that character has been bio-massed? I'd think not.

Also handy if you aggro the wrong target and catch wife aggro.

You won't think it is a waste when your account is stolen.

CCP likes to consider those who play drunk.

To give people a chance to sleep on it and/or to realise they clicked the wrong thing.

You only delete the character, NOT the character name.

It's also a safety measure to protect hacked accounts. It's very common for gold farmers to hack an account, steal everything and delete all characters on the account. It drastically complicates the account restoration process and helps to cover the gold farmers money trail. This tactic is most common in World of Warcraft.

This tactic bogs down the GMs with account restoration work. The more they're tied up with fixing accounts, the less time and effort they can put forward to combatting illegal RMT.

However you can reuse names of deleted characters.

As people said it's there to give people a cool-off period. When someone loses their 300m untanked hulk they may decide to rage quit. After a few hours they realize the only reason they died was they were incredibly dumb so they cancel the biomass.

Yes, I also think it's not possible to ever use the same name again. Please let us know if otherwise. Cool

You can petition it and they'll un-biomass a character for you, even if someone has taken its name they'll let you pick a new name. I did it with one of mine once and it ended up back in School of Applied Knowledge with a full employment history.

No, it is possible. I did it a few years back; made a character, didn't like the look and deleted them but used the same name. Once the character is deleted, the name is deleted too so you are free to use it again.

Indeed, a good way of looking at it.
