Market UI

With all the UI being updated I thought I would submit a Idea for a new market UI… First all I hate scrolling, there is nothing more tedious then having to drag a square bar to look for a Item. So I propose we scrap the list format completely and add tiles!

For Example:

When a person presses the search tab in the market menu, their results come arranged in neat tile format. These tabs will show the items name, the estimated price, and they will also be color coded, green meaning yes you can use this and your ship has the power grid or cpu to fit it, yellow meaning you don’t have the power grid or cpu, orange meaning you are not trained for it, and red meaning not only can you not fit it, but don’t have the required perquisites trained to use it. But hey! When I typed in “sensor” it gave me a massive flood of tiles to look through! Well to solve this there would be a small category bar under the search button! Note: this is NOT a filter check box thingy, the bar will show the categories of all modules with “sensor” in the title so I could just click “Electronic Warfare” and it would get rid of all of the tiles that wasn’t in the Electronic Warfare tree, but oh no! I clicked the wrong category! Well that’s why there is a history button, so you can restore all the tiles to how they were before you made your annoying little mistake.

But let’s say you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for, but you know you want a turret of some kind AND you know you’re a minmatar, so you need something either fast or rusty (or both) and it needs to look low tech. When you open the market bar you would be greeted with the first category of items, you click “Ship Equipment” and your selection minimizes upward along with the rest of the choices with yours being in the middle, slightly bigger, and glowing. You continue pressing categories with you choices again minimizing until you click the on “missiles and launcher” but you know you’re not looking for missiles, because missiles are overpowered demon spawn of the Caldari! You would conveniently just move your pointer up, and click “turrets and bay” instead of having to have to close the tree. You’ve finally gotten to “Autocannons” and you’ve pressed “Medium” and here are your final results! And in neat tile format like with the search tab stated above, and only when you click on the item itself, will you then see market details and the items description.

Please place you thoughts and feedback below, and also how this could be better sculpted

So, you want to replace the nice clean lists of modules which are neatly sorted and well laid out with a visual vomit of tiles with strange filtering methods just because you don't feel like learning to use a scroll bar? Not supported in any shape or form.

tl;dr: No!

Thanks for the criticism! I like how informative you were about what you didn't like!

function over visuals, what you propose takes away from function to add more visuals, I'm sorry, I agree with Mxzf on this, I don't support this idea.

Just because you don't like my idea doesn't mean the current market UI is flawless, and i think it should be improved to make it quicker to use. Plus the tiles don't have to literally be flashy, they just have to be easier to find things in, instead of the current system which is like finding a word you don't know how to spell in a college dictionary.

The main flaws which you refer to is the in-ability to do research. The market itself will show all the items when you check the show unavailable check box. Hell it shows titans on there. With that tool, and the tool call notepad, you can do research on what kind of items there are, and make a plan on what you want, and how you want it.

What you propose is something we already have, in a different format. A more...Ugly format.

Yes yes... I know how to do these and thank you for your feedback, but what do you mean a ugly format?

He means, as I indicated in my first post, that such a tiled system would be much more ugly for many of us. Simply because you feel tiles look prettier doesn't mean everyone does. Most people tend to prefer a system that actually works rather than something that looks pretty (see the fallout over Incarna and the recent Inventory change for proof of this). And the fact remains that the current system is fundamentally easier for most people to use. Trying to change it to appeal to the 1% of people, such as yourself, who want something different, would be stupid on CCP's part.
