New Skin Tones

Why do I have the skin tone of a sub-saharan african? I did not select this. I resculpted my character and left the skin tone as it is.

I don't see why the original skin tones were removed in addition to this.

Please make my character look like an asian again.

iirc they told us specifically that your old one would be thrown out if you re-sculpted and you'd get one from the new system...

It should be as simple as picking a new one that looks similar to the old one right?

Unless there is a bug here somewhere did you not see the new skin tone when you went to re-sculpt or at least see it by the time you took the picture? You coulda changed it then too.

I remain unaffected by this resculpting as I don't seem to have the option. Guess CCP didn't want me messing with perfection Cool

I messed around with it a little but I went back and changed it back to what I originally had because there was nothing even close to what I originally had. I took a portrait and had my original one in my portrait in Eve, and it still appears as the original in Eve, but on here and in CQ, I look like... well... yeah.

Actually, no, she didn't have the opportunity to see what the new skin tone was going to be.

Here was my experience:

1) Select re-sculpt
2) Look at the new skin tone colour wheel
3) Realize that if I didn't select a new skin tone, the old one is kept
4) Take new portrait after re-sculpting, still have old skin tone
5) Finalize and admire new portrait, still with old skin tone
6) Have others comment on nice new portrait, with old skin tone
7) Log off
8) Sleep
9) Log on
10) Observe "Character Selection Screen" portrait with same skin tone as yesterday
11) Blink
12) Observe that portrait is suddenly updated with new, seemingly random new skin tone

Basically, if you re-sculpt but don't change your skin tone, you will THINK that you're able to keep it as it is. This mirage continues right through the portrait taking, finalizing, and even playing for hours afterward. People seeing your new portrait for the first time also see the old skin tone. But by logging out and then back in, the server regenerates the portrait using the new colour wheel with whatever mapping it has coded.

This is terrible design.

Also, my experience with the new color wheel: Goes from ghost white to black ghost black.

Srsly. This is a pretty crappy new color wheel... Khanid is supposed to be somewhat asian looking, but they don't even come with an asian skin tone any more...

have you tried petitioning this issue and ask for another resculpt? seems like a valid reason imo.

I've petitioned it, but I don't want a resculpt since my old skin tone isn't on there. I want my old one back that I originally took the portrait with.
