Not everyone can be as smart as you.

Seriously though, what's so hard about it? Have you guys never used windows explorer? There may still be some bugs in the current implementation, but there is considerably more functionality in the new inventory system.

- Quick overview of the worth of assets in ISK
- Ships and cargo containers have become folders easily accessible from ONE single window
- Filtering out items (both on name and category) so you can more easily find what you are looking for in crowded folders

"-Quick overview of the worth of assets in ISK"
? Not only would this add lag, but what would u need that nfo for?

"- Ships and cargo containers have become folders easily accessible from ONE single window"
? An added tree to ur already precious HUD space?
? If I wanted a game to look like sum fagg0t azz win7 style, I'd shoot myself in the face
? U answered y its a bad idea with the last part of that sentence "ONE single window", have fun looting and placing things into cans wit that O_o

"- Filtering out items (both on name and category) so you can more easily find what you are looking for in crowded folders"
? Have u never noticed the 'sort' tab? Or perhaps, if ur so smart, using separate cans?

As noted above...if the ccp dev that has this sick and twisted win7 fetish, can't be helped, or cured, then this sort of system would be better used in assets. Where, perhaps, even the useless nfo about assets worth, would make more sense

How do you respond after ACTUAL usage ?

I AM using it right now. This isn't anything CCP invented either, if this was a bad file management system, it wouldn't have been used in every single iteration of Windows since 3.11. In EVE It requires some getting used to after using the old system for so long, but I suspect the learning curve to be rather low.

I mine with jet cans and my jet cans show up in that ONE single window of mine.

I do agree though that CCP should have kept the option to use the old system as well though. We still have DOS command in Windows after all.

Really not impressed by new system, and it was rushed in at very short notice.

Please, just give us the option to retain our old beloved system.

You must have a different version than the rest of us then, as the one we have now can't do the things it used to do, and takes longer to find things than ever, not to mention it no longer remembers what was open or not, between undocking and docking, has trouble transfering things from one open 'window' to the next, and .. get this.. it can now lag.. no wait thats the extra feature isnt it.. with added lag.
.. but wait.. if its lagging so much, how come it doesnt show contents in real time, but has to be closed and opened again in order to update the contents..
.. i've just realised, you were being ironic, it really has less functionality .. doh.. silly me.Roll

Actually the minor bugs you listed have been acknowledge and further streamlining has been discussed in the Dev Blog yesterday.
By the way, while your windows do currently close on session changes (soon to be fixed), if you simply pin the windows the next time you open them they will open exactly where you want them... and those positions can be different depending on whether you are in space or in hanger.
Some changes will have to be made to accommodate those that can't figure out that dragging from window to window is slower and more cumbersome than dragging to the tree 1/2 inch away. A simple matter of updating upon that action.

As has been said before, if you insist on trying to do things the old, round about, screen filled with open windows way you will have issues. It's just going to take a bit to fix the legitimate bugs AND retro fit the system for the learning impaired.

The new system is very annoying I am surprised that it made it to tranquility. there are some advantages but as a whole this is a downgrade I prefer the old system.

Or at the very least a way to configure the new UI to do what *I* want it to so that I can configure it the way the old one was and those windows would always be open in the way I chose.

Hot links that I can set up to open what areas I want like default gear container for stations that does not open up new windows and for that matter a check box for "open containers in new windows". And an "always keep this window open" check box as well.

A way to configure how the information at the bottom of a container displays.

You should be able to click on the "corp hangars" to view the hangars in a window and then select the different tabs in that window.

Put in options oh how the "Index" functions and looks and functions, you can configure gear to show lists small icons or large icons but the index can ONLY show list format WDF its not the 90's get on that this is basic functionality that needs to be in the game

There was a speech about how CCP was going to make things work how they ought to work how we the players expected them to work so they are intuitive and then you do this counter intuitive annoying "upgrade".

Not all of us like playing 'Windows OS'. It's an OS, not a game.

And the reason there is DOS, and always will be DOS, Is cause 'Windows' is a simple interface for ur simple mind. One simple line of assembly code will prevent ur 'Windows' from loading, and u'll be stuck at a black screen staring at C:\_ , thinkin' to urself, "wtf is this?"

Wait, so your argument is that DOS is better to use than Windows... which means a system nearly identical to the OS we are all intimately familiar with is therefore far worse to use?

REALLY?!?

Hey now! Smile

The simple fact is that if we had this new system right off the bat, and CCP tried to change it to the old system, people would be screaming about being forced to open separate windows to do anything.

Not so trivial as you might think.

I'm sure for the 99% of EVE that has under a hundred items in their hanger it's just peachy. Try having many thousands of separate items that amount to many billions of units like my builder and watch it take nearly a minute to load every time you want to do something. And a filtering system that is so basic, all my stuff will never leave the station containers that they have always been in.

Will I unsub over it? Of course not. But it definitely needs a lot of work before I change how I do my organizing.

Or more likely they'd call it an upgrade to a flakey system that struggles to cope with player requirements..

I've used pc's b4 there were 'windows'. 'Windows' is better in the sense that for ur simple minds, little pretty pictures are easier for u to comprehend ;) But with one line of assembly code written in a DOS environment, all ur pretty little pictures will burn. Also assembly coding or any other coding is very tedious in a DOS environment, so in that case, a 'windows' type environment is preferred. But in the end...it comes down to DOS, and on/off registers....

Just because they 'changed' something, doesn't mean it's better. During the Dark Ages, that was a change from b4, would u say that too was better?

Actually a pretty decent post.

They do need to isolate what is causing that lag for some people, as for many of us there is no issue. I have huge amounts of inventory I move routinely on my industrial characters, yet despite the fact that my computer is somewhat starved for resources I am experiencing no more delay than before, while others (like yourself) obviously are.

I believe better filtering and naming mechanics are high on the list to work on.
