Network bounce or means to regain connection

This is an idea from my lack of a stable internet connection.

The first thing I would like to clarify is the reason I think this is an important feature.
1) Death is very serious. As a new player you can't always keep the money to replace an expensive ship.
2) For me the network instability is out of my control. I've pestered my ISP for months on end to get something done about this.
I have had a new line buried from the box to my house.
I have had a new line run from the box connected to the house to the modem.
I have even been freely upgraded to a uVerse 12mbit line free of installation, equipment, and connection fees. (Normally 100 USD connection and 100 hardware)
The other provider in this area is Cable that employees shoddy service, obscene managers.
General location is, Lawrence, KS, USA. A moderate sized town with a large collage. (And tons of bars)

So I hope that is significant to signify that even in non-rural areas, service can still be unreliable. This area was considered large enough for AT&T to roll out uVerse in.

So I have a few ideas that could be used. I dont know how your servers would handle it though.

A bit of reconnect code, that for a set amount of time attempts to re-connect and authenticate with the server and regain the session regardless of IP change.

Code to connect to a bounce proxy, in my case a Linux server with stable network, that could be reconnected to without the main EVE server having to know much.

Anyone else have ideas? I'm guessing at what could possibly be done above. I think the first one could be possible.

Eve players are renowned for their metagame. I don't know exactly what you plan with the first one, but a recconect regardless of IP address is just begging for people to DDOS you and hijack your account, methinks.

A reconnect like that should still have a form of authentication. Like a session key of some sort, so taking the player offline wouldn't grant someone the ability to just hop, it'd be the same as knocking them off anyway, but the delay of them coming back would be shorter, and still have control of drones and things. Besides how would an attacker know your IP. They could have some warez on your machine, but by that point why wouldn't it just keylog?

If done wrong, the security would be a flaw. If done right no security should be compromised.

I guess a more general way of saying, a player shouldn't lose stuff because of connection flaws outside the players control.
