Yeah, the new inventory system is completely useless. I mean, it has many good ideas (ISK value, filters, etc.) but the need to reopen cargo of every damn ship (not to mention that time required fo all actions has significantly increased, the game is laggy as hell) and being almoist unable to move things from one ship to another (in a bloody hangar) ruins it all. Please - restore at least the separate hangar view so we can see what ships we have without opening it "Shift+right" every time (and closing by accident).

I don't do PoS or loot wrecks, but I can imagine what nightmare for players who do this new inventory system is.

All in all nice deployment CCP, that week long skill wasn't needed :).

I see a lot of hate on the new inventory and as a POS user for manufacturing and science purposes I could see it's use but not really in it's current state.
- The filters are nice but none of them help me with to work with my crapload op BPO's and BPC's.
- Working at a POS your inventory window is spammed with 'containers' and when ever you do want to work with a few you have to have all 7 divisions crapping up your window.

More than anything for me this shows what is wrong with the current POS setup as a whole. Hopefully once the POS reform comes throught (it better) this inventory will be more functional at a POS. And adding a few more filter options would be a great improvement for my own situation.

New inventory;

Pros:

-Like the new design idea. Nice overview and easy to get around once you get used to it.
-Price calc estimate is semi useful as a general pointer, which is ...fun trivia just glancing in your hangar.

Cons;
-Incredibly laggy if youre a laaaaarge scale trader/producer. Transfering/trading xxx items from one character/hangar
to the next takes ages and is laggy. Sometimes you wonder if its transfering at all or just bugged/refusing to transfer,
then suddenly kicks in and transfer. Then sometimes it wont.

The lag completely overshadows the good consept of the new design. Making something less useful thru drastical
drop in performance wont be offset by making it look better.

IF the performance drop is tied into the new "tree layout" of inventory, and you will not be able to enhance
this cause of some underlying strain by design, then I would like the option of reverting to the old inventory.
Inventory performance as it is now is completely unbearable for large scale trading.

I guess my point is; if a feature/design in a GAME becomes aggrevating to the extent that I think" will be playing diablo 3 until this is fixed" then its not working as intended. Blink

In the character sheet window, the killmail/lossmail tabs have been replaced with a drop-down menu option. Why was this? The only purpose this seems to serve is to double the number of clicks required to achieve the same result.

Hi! I did this, there were three tabs there, one with kills, one with losses and one with settings that contained only the checkbox. I thought it would be cleaner and less cluttered to move all this to just one tab where you could access all needed Big smile

I don't mind the dropdown. But while we have it, could you add a "All" option?
Those that mind the one extra mouse-click are most likely those often switching back between the tabs / filters, so in that case why not make it possible to see all at once - maybe with way to easily distinguish kill / loss (if possible without much effort)?

This is not a "I love / I hate the new Inventory system" post.

The Unified Inventory system is 5 steps backward for WH space (or any POS i'd imagine).

Yes filters can reduce some of the 400 items i'm seeing. (guns, ECM, SMA, CH.. etc.)
Every hangar is in the inventory, UI refreshing when anyone swaps ship... what?
I don't want something that is not as good as before, if it is not an improvement on what we just had then it is a broken feature.

I realise several people have posted this before, but it needs to be known this isn't just an opinion, not one person prefers this method who lives in a POS.

The unified inventory idea was nice. But badly implemented. Terribly annoying. Needs to be fixed pronto. I would say, revert it until you find a fix.

Probably the worst of the most pathetic pilots in New Eden.

Feedback: (most you probably know or has been covered above)

1. Inventory window opens whenever you jump through a gate or to a cyno - very annoying!
2. Inventory window shows too much when in space for example I do not need to know what is in my POS Guns whenever I want to empty a Silo.
3. Can no longer drag and drop onto a tabs for stacked windows in space.

Made a couple of videos to demonstrate exactly how bad this is when you have corp hangars and such open. When it seems to be frozen it is the eve client, not an issue with fraps or my computer. This is running on an i7 920 with 12GB or RAM and 2x5770 in crossfire. My temps were all fine and my CPU never went over 40%. When the client locks up fraps does not record the mouse movements so you'll have to take my word for it that during those long locks my computer - mouse and all other programs - was very responsive, it was just eve. I left the music I had playing in to show that it doesn't skip.

First I demonstrate some of the unacceptable lag while simply dragging stacks around. It is incredibly unresponsive to the point of being extremely frustrating. I also demonstrate how it breaks when you try to drag a group of items that includes assembled ships - it no longer auto-sorts them to the proper hangar and instead refuses to do anything.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hkUk13btqI

This next one is purely about the lag in the inventory window. Compare it to how responsive the other windows are and how ridiculously long it takes to open and close.

I was working on War Dec and Kill Reports this release - hope you like that stuff!

This was on the 1st page of this thread. Post number 10. This tells me that CCP knew we'd hate this new Inventory. There a is Dev going "Don't blame me. I was working on something else.!"

So after 23 pages, 90% of them saying this thing is "CRAP" or "junk" or "Stupid" or that is just "SUX" the question is simple. Why can't CCP learn from it's own mistakes? We've been here before......]

"Red flags raised by very smart people both at CCP and in the community went unheeded because of my stubborn refusal to allow adversity to gain purchase on our plans." -Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO

And so they repeated the same mistake. Making a change, testing it, getting feeback from players that said "THIS SUCKS" then ramming it down the player's collective throats anyway.

"The greatest lesson for me is the realization that EVE belongs to you, and we at CCP are just the hosts of your experience." -Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO

Well Sir, this was a lesson you didn't learn. You proved it today. The new inventory has made Looting from Wrecks, Player Owned Station operations, Jetcan Mining, Corporate Hanger Ops, and dealing with large amounts of items a tedious, time wasting, torture sessions. Your people were told time and again during Sisi testing that this change was not a good idea, but you did it anyway. Again....

I would humbly suggest that you either Rollback this change or make it optional as you did with the whole Captain's Quarters fiasco. Let us not take this latest lack of good judgement and turn it into International news.
Prove to us you can learn from your mistakes. And stop repeating them.

I feel I have to rate this reply 10/10. I seen videos of Hilmar saying these things recently and they are fresh in my mind. I am shocked by how fast he made himself look like a douche.

Just another person saying 'Please do something with the unified inventory system'

I live in a wormhole and as everyone says 'it's really difficult to do things with the inventory now' Just revert back to the old system until a viable solution is found.

Inferno - The Revenge of the Wrecks

Inferno by definition (m-w.com) can be reduced (without a god/hell connotation) as:

"a place or state of turmoil or destruction" ... which is seemingly (and saly) appropriate after Inferno's launch.

Look, down to brass and tacks:

I hope that David Reid, newly appointed Cheif Marketing Officer, by his promising words of Fanfest 2012, that he, of all people, can see the horrificly possible destruction or breakdown between a CCP game the likes of which is unprecedented in publishings (until the past year, admittedly) - and then we introduce the connection of SCEA (Sony) to obviously share proprietary coding languages to CCP in order to bridge EVE Online to the heavily backed "DUST 514" PS3-only console-game.

I have never before seen so many people docked at stations as I have today... and sadly, this would be the night of the LOWEST number of ingame players for the past 2+ hours - maxing around 16,000-ish players.

I imagine most of today was spent with people sitting docked or in/at their POS's and industrial outposts, thinking and wondering "where is our stuff and why has it been so toyed with that we've wasted our own paid time trying to break it all down?"

It's not like EVE, lately, has come out with a manual, and I suspect the Atari physical game release (if it had a booklet) ever had anything that would match today's insanity.

I hope, if the words of David Reid were and are true, that the CCP/EVE Dev(s) who have "responded selectively" to only seemingly positive posts with "Yes, you made me happy to read that" ... are actually taking to heart (and to business economics) the realities and truisms that ALL FEEDBACK (in the "Feedback" forum) are being read and understood by head members of the CCP/EVE Online staf and SCEA representatives and a VERY serious litmus indicator of where this game's following can possibly go - at what I would asume to be a most crucial time for both invested entities...

So I hope people like David Reid (CMO), CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson and Jack Tretton (CEO of SCEA) are listening AND reading closely... because if we are being encouraged to "set the universe on fire" ... and we aren't doing anything to actually do such a thing whilst trying to figure out where we put a "rig"... I would hope they are standing by with something to help keep the serious "burning" as a virtual reality... not an actual reality.

This game has been amazing.. it has been continually good (even with its up and downs...) but: something is very different right now, and it doesn't feel one shread of "goodness" after today/tonight...

Amongst the many 3-8 sentence responses about how bad things are or how good things are - without any description or usable advice or information - there are a few good, solid responses I've read through the night (it's been more entertaining than actually "playing" the game itself... "where are my exotic dancers... and, for that matter, where is my corporate hangar with the one container with something important I was supposed to do for the limited time I am actually on?"

...Only time, and people interested in saving this game and this merger of companies, can tell... And I don't feel a CCP rep will bother to respond to this... and that, if read by any of the above mentioned 3 people of great importance, should be a big indicator of where things are possibly going [pauses] "left of center... even if it's right for you"...

Well, kinda... Many wanted personal hangar tabs, which we got with filters. The implementation of checkboxes was a mistake. If you can create a filter and assign it to a newly created tab that could be opened/managed separately, that would be great.

1.Set orbit on a gate .
2.Shoot some rats.
3.Select gate and click Jump
(ship will orbit)
Spam Jump
(ship will orbit - you have to select other target , click approach and then again on gate jump)

Bring back noctis to salvage wrecks.
TRY to do this fast ...
Each time you loot a wreck your cargo bay reopens and reloads.

Try to find something on a stations when you have 40 ships and 20 containers ....

Estimated value of items ( lol , maybe use a region price ? this will kill traders)

I'll also join in with the complaints about the way the new inventory system interfaces with POS's. I live out of a death star POS in w-space. As if there weren't enough POS-related annoyances to deal with, seems like we've just received a new one. The "container tree" now lists every single goddamn gun I have anchored at my tower, and the list is quite long. Somewhere in there is a couple humble units of "Ship Maintenance Array" which are impossible to tell from each other since SMAs can't be renamed, and two assembly arrays I use for storage (which thankfully *can* be renamed). Scrolling past the list of POS guns to get to the storage units sure is fun! But if that wasn't enough, there's also a big issue with the time that it takes to load the contents of SMAs. If I leave the system and then return, or change ships, and open either of my SMAs, it takes somewhere between 30 seconds and a minute for the contents to load. I just loooove it when that happens at times when I need to reship quickly, nothing like 30-60 seconds of watching the spinny wheel of doom during a time-critical ship swap such as, say, when PvP'ing.

Honestly, as with the Neocom and a number of its shortcomings (that still haven't been fixed, REALLY?), I feel like this inventory change was pushed out way before it's actually read for consumption. Feels clunky, unpolished and half-baked. I expect it will mostly stay that way, right, CCP..? People will rabble-rabble and shut up, isn't that the idea?

This is a bad situation and designers should feel bad.
