I don't mind the inventory windows if they let me create the game like it used to be. I would like to be able to dock up and see my ship window. I don't care if it's in the new window, it just should open up default all the time. Then I'd like to see my inventory window, not my ship cargo...my inventory.

I would just like to be able to save specific windows I set up...that's how I like to play and the unified inventory, while a good step, isn't always the best option. I like to see what is in 3 different containers at once. Doing that now takes extra clicks and setup, which doesn't save. That's the most frustrating thing about this new inventory system.

Loving the new Inventory feature - I like being organized and as few windows open as possible. I especially like the ability to drag and drop my items from one window.

A new shortcut has been added. By default, alt+C has changed to "Open Inventory", so clear it and remap it back to "Open cargo hold of active ship".

I just have one question:

Do the dev's who designed the unified inventory and thought it was a good idea actually play Eve? And if so, how big is their inventory?? 1 noob ship in one station in high sec with 10 items in the hangar?

Seems like CCP doesn't want a great expansion. They'll put in great features and always add one thing that sucks so badly that it ruins (and overshadows) all the good things they did.

Is anyone in ccp headquarters not on serious medication? Because if there is you should fire their azz for letting this inventory change go through. The people on the serious meds now need to mail me some so I can play this shittier game now. Thanks for wrecking my personal 6 man mining op. Fix it or I stop buying 7 gtc's a month.

I have one simple question and I can't seem to find the answer anywhere.

Once configured, how the hell do I access a capital ship's CHA from another pilot? I can get the SMA but not the CHA.

Found the answer, it appears to be a bug. Trying this again after a session change the CHA showed up fine. I also had this happen in a station: the dreddit corp hangars were not listed in 6VDT until I undocked and redocked.

Other than that there are several major things wrong with this UI:

  • Mouse scroll doesn't work in the list of item locations while you have something picked up to drag
  • Window location/size/configuration are not persistent
  • POS mods need to be organized into subgroups by type (eg: Guns > Large > Large Pulse) and these groups need to be collapsed by default
  • When you shift+click to drag a certain container/category out it should no longer be present in the original window
  • Windows close with session changes and undocking/redocking
  • Your active ship is no longer shown in your ship hangar
  • When in space, available containers should provide feedback about whether or not they are in range (greyed out)

And the big, major one: It's way too slow. I should not have to wait 5-10 seconds to see my stuff, especially when the damn windows close every time I jump to another system.

Edit: As it stands, the inventory is pretty nice to use in station, once the windows are persistent. It currently sucks a major load of donkey semen when actually in space though.

Thanks for all the hard work guys. Looks like a HUGE improvement for Factional Warfare that I think will bring a lot of players back to it. Hope the EVE expansions continue forever!

I for one kind of like the new Inventory thing. It does make things slower since it trys to get you a ball park value of everything. But it is not be the main way of doing things.. This should be an option to look every now and then at things. Not the defualt.

Ok SERIOUSLY, I let the new patch load and all that crap, expected that the new system was something ppl who didnt like change were complaining about, then i landed at my POS and tried to do...well ANYTHING

Got pissed and logged out

This is refering to the new "UNIF*CKED Inventory"

IN THE NAME OF EVERYTHING HOLY AND DEAR WHAT THE FRAK IS THIS CRAP??????????

I actually regained respect for CCP over the last several months cause they were doing a great job but obviously CCPs brains went to orbit with the POD launch and never came back.

Just setting all 4 of my accounts (which I stupidly pay for on my credit card every month) not to renew this time around, will come back in a couple months to see if CCP pulled the head outta their ass or not cause this new system just wastes any time and effeciency at doing anything down to the point of if I wanna work a boring tedious job Ill go get a second RL job cause at least I get paid to be bored and pissed off.

If the cargohold and wrecks would be out of the new inventory it might work. Even tought it doesnt remember its position or previous tab and moving things from lab starting with letter a to any other on the bottom is almost impossible. You need to work on some kind of filter to keep pos guns away or finout some other solution. "Professional" salvagers will really hate this inventory as is makes it so damn slow.

Other things seems alright ...so far. Smile

The new inventory window gets a BIG thumbs down from me as well. I hope the dev team is familiar with POLA (the principle of least astonishment) and the psychological effect of keeping the old stuff working like it always has while still introducing new hawtness. People want to be able to login and get their pew on... not spend their first hour trying to figure out where the hell their ships are, where the hell the ammo is, and why the hell we have to spend time farting around with windows when we could be pressing F1-F8 instead.

The Unified Inventory is an immense failure in it's currently hugely bugged implementation. The worst part is you knew about all these bugs, they were reported numerous times on SiSi but you did nothing about it. For it to work you need to fix a few simple things: remember the POSITION, remember the SIZE, remember the NUMBER OF WINDOWS, remember if the tree was VISIBLE or NOT VISIBLE, remember what TYPE of container was opened in which window and remember which DIVISION was opened (if applicable). Then we could emulate the old inventory system and while not perfect, it would be a decent start.

For people living in a PoS you'd need to make the SMAs & CHAs re-nameable and allow us to configure which PoS modules we want to see in the inventory list.
People have always used multiple small windows to keep different container contents organized, easily accessible and predictable. Until you fix/restore that functionality nobody's going to be happy.

And for Pete's sake give us back the additional ship bays in the ship's right-click menu. Also, removing the active ship from the ships hangar in-station? Really?

WOW, salvaging with the new inventory is absolutely TERRIBLE. Every step causes little lag spikes, and when that involves 30 or so wrecks it is murderous. I don't want to see my cargo after emptying a can, Please make emptying cans close the window. It might also be nice if stacking didn't take close to 30 seconds or more at the end.

The inventory system has a lot of little annoyances compared to the old system that might be gotten used to over time, but coupled with the SLOW response time it becomes rage inducing.

Also, I don't want to have to see the 15 guns on our wh pos while fitting ships and moving cargo around, they need to disappear to at most a single line. A filter on what containers we see would be helpful.

I have to say, I keep trying to log in but I give up trying to play after a few minutes.

I was happy enough when I found the shift+click option - then I found out it does not work to open the corp hanger in a station separately. Then I find out how to keep my cargohold open as a single box while undocked, only to find that when I warp from an anchored corp hanger, that window will default back to my cargohold too, so now I had multiple.

The location where I will normally have my 'Items' open happens to overlap my modules when I undock, and every time I jump, that window would open regardless how many times I tried to close it, and regardless I had the cargohold which was the only item in there shift-click opened elsewhere on screen.

I truly miss having the visual identification instead of the *shipname (type)* in letters in a list. Getting that again requires multiple clicks and it is hard to 'educate' the new interface to open in different locations on the screen. I don't know if the settings can tell the difference code-wise between a ship hanger and a corp hanger and a jet can etc.

It results in much confusion and for the way I play, I will basically need to hold shift for everything I do - industry, mining, pos management, salvaging. I can imagine I might not need it when I pvp, but for me, it is just added clicking, and I really sort of do need multiple window locations which then don't overlap my cloak when I undock, or sits in the middle of the screen so I can't see the nifty graphics, and I don't need to see my cargohold more than once, max twice - not once for every hanger I have looked into.

I hope some of this is a bug or something that can be tweaked - it delays everything to have to READ labels so much, shift click everything, move windows around hoping that one day they will just open where I want them, ACTIVELY CLOSE corp hangers to not have to see my cargohold xx times and not be able to see corp hanger in station separately from my own items - sometimes I just don't want to do corp stuff, and when I do, I want it to be CORPs, not in the middle of my own gear.

Thanks.

Seriously your inventory idea is complete CRAP. This is the captains quarters all over again. I sympathize with the guys that run POS's I used to and am glad it's down right now. If this stays like this i can see you losing a large client base. They are right give an opt out button or else have it remember your settings for where the windows are; and for GODS sakes auto close when looting using the loot all button !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and btw - I cannot see who in my corporation is online apart from checking the member list in the corp window on neocom - people in my watch list or off it alike all show online for undefined amounts of time when they are not, with the channel on immidiate.

I would much prefer that when I SEE someone and ask them a question they actually be there - and I would prefer as a Director to actually be available when my avatar is shown in the list. I actually make a point of 'active members' and 'active leadership' - not some ghost avatar that logged out 2 downtimes ago.

CCP pls answer this ONE QUESTION!

Why did you "stayed the course" with the crappy Inventory Feature after all the negative feedback from Sisi?

In Hilmar's own words:
"Currently we are seeing _very predictable feedback_ on what we are doing. Having the perspective of having done this for a decade, I can tell you that this is one of the moments where we look at what our players do and less of what they say. Innovation takes time to set in and the predictable reaction is always to resist change."

back in the old mood ? no more video blog about how sorry ?
so it means the whole testserver thing and feedback is a joke anyways ? cause u only look at what will happen not what people say ? LOL hope enuff people quit fast enuff to make u "see" what we "do"

should be called windows in space
if u realy think that tree menu window style is the state of art ... cool but lol and no thnx
even in windows i can take the stuff I need out of the tree and put directly on desk aka Icon's ^^ ...and it will stay there and not go poof everytime i close windows and I have an option to choose know as: " open new window for each thingy" and it will be a permanent choice then.....

thnx 4 nothing
its a shame that the brilliant new art work like bombers and missils get dragged down by an unplayable stupid UI change no one asked for (again)...
