Indeed wrong channel but before It's moved please hear me out.

Proteus is T3 and I believe it should be capable of fielding 5 sentries like It's T2 baby brother [Ishtar]and It's T1 potatoe lookalike [Dominix].

The tech is significantly higher on a T3 so why not?

T3s are supposed to offer a wider range of bonuses, but at a lower level than more specialized ships. Not to do everything at equal or better level than the specialized T2 ships and therefore making them largely reduntant.

T3 is about versatility and T2 is specialisation. Thus, proteus should not outperform Ishtar as a drone boat.

Agreed. A Proteus that is better at being an Ishtar than an Ishtar is a bad thing. It would obsolete the HAC class further than it already has been. This can be seen in the Tengu, which pretty much outperforms most other Caldari missile ships, despite a generalized hull intention.

PLUS if they boosted its drone output it would probably become overpowered, or they'd have to make it be worse with blasters, and that is just not cool.

I will agree, though, that the drone subsystem needs to be a smudge better, as Gallente are a drone race. Just not SPECIALIST DRONE SHIP good.

First come smiles, then lies. Last is gunfire.

Take a deep breath, and repeat after me "this game is balanced, this game is balanced..." Keep at it until you start to believe it.

No doubt there will be tears when they finally nerf the Tengu (or buff every other ship ingame except Tengu).

As much as I'd personally love this, I have to say you answered your own question.

There are already cruiser class ships designed to excel at sentry deployment. Why do something that will make them obsolete?

The big deal about a Proteus having 5 heavies is that it would become the first deep space explorer (Ie deep into nullsec) that is not gimped to hell.

At the moment there are no ships that are suited for long term incursions in nullsec. All T3 ships use ammo that runs out. the only one that doesn't is the Legion.

But the legion is so gimped with a nullsec explorer fit that its not worth flying.

Also if the proteus did have 5 heavies it would obsolete a lot of ships and CCP are first class at keeping their ships relevent when they introduce new ones.

Think about any Blizzard game and you will understand straight away
