A question about the new faction warfare

I want to preface this by saying I have never been in FW, it is still a bit of voodoo magic for me. I have read the dev blog about FW and am very happy to see them hard at work trying to make this very interesting aspect of EVE work for their players.

I noticed that it seems that as you do better, things get better for you (things cost less, you get more access to cool sites etc). I have seen this in other territory style games before such as Aion, and they always run into problems, that I fear EVE may hit even harder.

My question is this, how do they reward players for fighting for the loosing side? Is there anything to prevent people from just joining the side with the most power and thus crush their enemies more and more efficiently? It seems like in a game like EVE where the bottom line is a strong factor, it would behoove most people to just join the winning side, making it progressively stronger.

As I said, I don't know all the mechanics of the system, and I am not trying to wine or anything, I am honestly curious how this system will play out in practice.

I can only answer part of this question.

People get very very attached to their race.

I knew a Gallente pilot and i always refered to him as the Gaylente pilot and ran down Gallente in general. He was never amused which is what amused me.

Also i could never fight for anyone but Amarr as

1. i'm Amarr
2. Gaylente are gay
3. Minmatar Scum should be in chains where they belong
4. Even if im the only Amarrian left in the Galaxy i will fight the Minmatar rebels with my last breathe

This should give you a flavour of why people love their race for no other reason apart from arbitrarily picking one when they started. (Apart from the Americans who mainly picked Caldari because the pilots all look like GI Joe or did before carbon came along. Some Americans did not choose Caldari and they are very very vocal on this point)

Hope that helps
I dont normally troll, but when i do i do it on General Discussion.
