3000 maybe 4000 miners dead? 1.1% maybe 1.2% of the server population and every single thread is about either mining or ganking miners. And that's assuming no-one lost 2 or more hulks...

Actually, I'm curious as to whether that's 3~4k unique hits, or 100~200 people who, after seeing their "strategy" (afk mining without tank or alignment) fail miserably, hopped into another hulk sure it could never happen a third time...

If you don't participate in the forums, you don't have a voice.

I seem to recall that one attempt to correlate eve-search data with population data showed that an unusually high percentage of people used the forums…

…but that was compared to most other games that have done the same. We were up to maybe 5% active posters, when most other venues report something like 1–2%.

Our squads have reported that the vast majority of those killed were exhibiting behavior to indicate that they were indeed bots.

Yep, the price of said tech is basically directly under the control of the holders, unlike the trit prices and the miners.

What if ... What if miners simply stop caring about Hulkageddon and do not mind getting their ships blown up?

This would be a massive and unthinkable blow to the egos of all gankers.

Could this be possible? No, it cannot be ...

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

It would be nice troll from CCP to release new capital hisec mining vessel right after geddon is over.

It doesn't prove anything.

Those mining could quite easily be making the rational choice to continue mining despite the risk. They might feel the returns still justify the risks, they might under-estimate the risks, they may over estimate their own abilities to avoid the risks, they might just want to show that they can't be intimidated.

I do agree with you fundamentally - that many people are very uninformed. During burn Jita, many people were logging on to SAK channel and asking questions like why they couldn't get into Jita because it was full - they had no idea and it happened all day long for the whole event.

This isn't a bad thing though - it just reflects that different people play games with different levels of intensity. For a casual gamer, keeping up with news channels, forums etc etc may just be an investment in time and effort they don't want to make.

It is a well acknowledged fact that forum users are the minority. And considering the amount of trolls, jerks, and plain stupid people we have on our forums I'm surprised that it's used even this much.

Watch_ Fred Fred Frederation_ and stop cryptozoologist! Fight against the brutal genocide of fictional creatures across New Eden! Is that a metaphor? Probably not, but the fru-fru- people will sure love it!
