Fakes people out into thinking you agree with them, and functions as a sort of dislike.

...that's about it.

People often "like" posts they disagree with. "Like" doesn't mean "I think you're correct."

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

Your signature about passive aggression is very fitting.

I don't pay attention to my likes, and even wish there was a way to disable it for yourself. But for anyone who thrives on that sort of thing, i suppose it would be perturbing.

Nothing passive about saying "I dislike your thoughts"

Going about it in a roundabout way, instead of being direct, is the definition of passive aggression.

The only thing roundabout about it is there is no "dislike" button. Unless you'd prefer me to quote every post and say "I dislike this"...which I'm quite open to...this is the most prudent way to say "you're an idiot" without bloating (or bumping) posts.

Edit: Also, if they didn't get a little notification with my name on it clearly demonstrating I disapprove, you'd have a point. As it stands, they totally do. And 15 people disliked the top post. I got their message directly.

Try this. If someone "likes" how someone else put something, and feels it's pointless to rephrase it, putting a "like" up says enough. However, in civil discourse (admittedly a rarity here at times) should you NOT like what someone says, it would seem you'd be able to specify, so you are provided with a "reply" button, as well as a "quote" button - which is twice as many buttons.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

When i dislike something enough i'll speak up and explain why. Calling someone names isn't really a mature way to deal with things you dislike hearing, either.

Eh, quite a few people I'd rather not waste "breath" on, but whose ideas are so terrible I wouldn't want CCP looking and saying, "Oh, hmm...this demographic should be represented"

I hope a simple dislike sends the message. Either way, it's overt, not passive.

Guess I'm just lazy.

The Like and Get liked thread killed all meaning behind the like count.

Like I wonder how many likes I can put in thread responding to a discussion about likes.
