Since 2008, when I joined, I am yet to really see any extensive changes benefiting non-consensual PvP. Yet to hear some people speak you would think Eve started off all sunshine and lollipops, and has become more dangerous over the years. The reality is the complete reverse.

Anyway, if it wasn't for CCP's single shard policy I'd love to see them stick a classic server up for a week or two. Just to try out.

so.... the game has gotten better than... again, this is the only MMO Ive ever seen where the players want to downgrade it

It's so everyone but goons can play the way they want.

Did I say that? no...
Unless of course "the way you want" is to destroy the game as your organization has stated in the past they are trying to do then yes that would be bad as I LIKE this game. If you dont, given your want to destroy it, find another game rather than destroying this one?

You seem to have forgotten that Goons LOVE you.

meh as far as ive ever beeen in the game its been an exploit to survive them :p

Yeah I was talking about beta. Back then I could survive about 5 waves of concord in my thorax. At the time tier 3 cruisers were the biggest ships in the game. First battleships went in on the last day of beta. They gave everyone all level 5 skills and had battleships for sale for 1 ISK. The server was so crowded you could barely be on for 5 minutes without it crashing.

The community changed a lot too. Just a few minutes ago I was reading one of the old threads about the zombies attack on yulai (think old school jita) and everyone was more or less okay with it. The complaints were mostly about them using an exploit. The attack itself? Barely any complaints on the first few pages. Now think of all the posts about burn jita. It's sad how much the community has changed.

Of course the game has improved since then, in many ways. I'd only like to try out the classic Eve, not revert to it Blink

In other ways, it has become much worse. Once Eve was difficult, even going back to 2008 it was relatively hard to make ISK, especially in high sec. Now it is not, everything is freely available and the game is not better for it.

Similarly logistics has become easier over time. Players on average have become richer, we have more carriers, jump freighters even t2 transport alts than ever. Simply we are rapidly reaching the point where we have become so efficient at avoiding risk that it has killed sandbox style PvP.

Now all that is left is consensual PvP, blue balling, sov structure bashing and of course picking off the odd few idiots who still haven't learnt game mechanics yet.

Anyway /rant over, I'd just like to have seen Eve when a battleship was valuable and everywhere was dangerous :)

CCP if you're reading this i'll pay $100 a month for a classic rules server with the current UI, ships and graphics please.

Try quoting the full paragraph.

I think your issue is that you are neither experienced enough to avoid PvP, which would make you one of the few idiots that still dies, nor are you experienced enough to have engaged in any PvP outside of high sec.

Which is kind of sad. Maybe if this game was harsher, or high sec less rewarding, you'd have been forced to leave high sec already and learn the game mechanics a little more thoroughly.

True enuff all of the comments, sorry have been very busy, hadn't had time to look at this thread.

Each lvl 4 mission u can make at least 23mil minimum. I do when i have time 30+ lvl 4 missions blitzing. ISK income isnt an issue.

They complain about lvl 5's but can u imagine the LAG that would create with level 5 agents in high sec? OHDEARGOD

Think of it as a *oh damn* in this game i have to actually do something to make ISK unlike WOW (yes i have a wow account, wife uses it) where she just flys around looking for ore's and making thousands of gold (i.e billions of ISK) a day from that.

I prefer eve simply because of its ability to drive off idiots :)

So my *comment* is quite simple. If you can't make ISK in high sec, your doing it wrong :)

I always think its funny. Ppl scream this game is a sandbox when its convenient to their argument then when they wanna talk about how lvl 4s shouldnt be in high sec they justify it with things like "well high sec is the beginner area and 0.0/low is endgame" like this ISNT A sandbox and is in fact a linear game like WoW. They think you shouldnt be able to make a living and play in High sec cause thats just a starter zone that leads to the real game.

Which is it? Is it a sandbox where you can live, play and make a living anywhere you choose or is it a linear game where theres a beginning, middle and end?

Then again Ive been told that I dont understand the sandbox too... I thought the sandbox was everyone can play the way they want... Is that wrong?

Actually EvE used to be much more of a hardcore PvP game with strong sandbox elements. If you listen to others instead of your own echo, you might notice that people are screaming it's a PvP game. Carebears are more concerned with the "sandbox" line... and they're winning. Now it's a sandbox with occasional, mostly consensual pvp. Even according to the OP, if you want to be successful in Eve, you should carry out activities that have nothing to do with PvP and work with little or no risk to you. Killing NPC's does not make Eve a sandbox. Unless WoW or DDO are also sandboxes, of course. If anything, the entire structure of HighSec is anti-sandbox, since you cannot actually influence it in any meaningful way (besides obsessive forum whine from bears), nor do players set the rules.

P.S. Nice false dichotomy, mr fail.

P.P.S. The argument goes "risk vs reward." I don't know of anyone who refers to null sec as "end game" content, especially since you can fly there in an ibis from day one. Try harder. Plox.
