Wanted to start thread that has nothing do the politics of Jita.

I am more interested the current Status of Jita, hardware (I presume it is on its own node)

How well is it surviving.

I am sure that CCP watching JITA carefully right about now :)

CCP input with above stuff would be nice.

Players

Numbers, lag , gate closes , etc etc etc.

I noticed on some other threads it is lagging out around 2000 players which seems a bit low ?

I was hearing 2100-2500 or so late last night from people with alts there. If it's low right now I'd guess it's because it's a bad time of day. EU people are mostly just getting off of work (5PM GMT right now) and US people are in the middle of the work day.

I saw TiDi at 15% at its lowest.

I was in Jita at silly'o'clock GMT, time dilation was between 30 and 40%. Everything was working as intended, albeit through a pool of viscous fluid, yay for submarine physics.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

TiDi got down to 12% at one point.. At that, there's really no game.. It seems like CCP Wasn't finished or ready with it's reinforcement.

Additionally there were clearly some bugs going on, I assume with TiDi not being fully tested in Highsec conditions. For example a lot of people were Concorded themselves when engaging GCC Targets, I can only assume because that part of the software was lagging behind TiDi.

Once TiDi got back up around 50% though, even with the Concord/GCC issue still present, at least you were able to do stuff :) If Jita was not reinforced, then I fully understand the performance lastnight.. If it was reinforced, then I think some more load tests are needed :)

But at least I'm sure CCP got a lot of good performance data in real-world conditions on the production servers :) Succeed or Fail, that data is probably more valuable that a dozen tests on SiSi..

TiDi has fluctuated between zero and 50% while I was there... just an hour ago. The system seems to be capped at about 1,850 or so... kind of disappointed. Still... there was a time when the Jita limit was around 300 or so. Still... was hoping to see a lot more people. The "Burn Jita" event is more like a sizzle than a burn. Just a lot of looters hanging out at undock waiting for the occasional pod to do something foolish.

As I am sitting here thinking about a 0.0 fight and one JIta, one thing strikes me as very different.

Local is dead in 0.0 compared to the constant spam of JIta.

First I am wondering if local is full of spam like normal...
THe second bit is, does that spam effect the server pruformance ? (CCP)

I know that once local get to a certain point the list gets truncated.

THe question is woud we get better performance if local was muted for the duration ? (CCP)

Just random thoughts.

Chatting with a corpie clearing out of Jita last night (this was 9 PM US Pacific daylight time, 2100 for those with 24 hour clocks . He managed to get out with a noctis with TiDi at 20% reporting 2100 in local. With a lot of shooting and salvaging going on I guess thats not bad. I ran a loop around the perimeter. Local was over 100 in all those systems with no ill effects.

Despite my posting prowess I really am terrible at this game

I personally saw 2025 with tidi @ 20 aroudn midnight, US EST.

As others have said - when you get to that level, everything is too slooooooow to really get anything done.

At first, with tidi @ around 20%, and close to or just more than 2000 in local, the scam-spam was effectively surpressed by the GoonSpam and responders. Once numbers fell to about 1850 or so, and tidi rolled back to 39%, the scammers in local started making themselves noticed again. By the time numbers fell back to around 1700, and tidi dropped to better then 85%, Jita local looked pretty much like normal.

Not at all certain that the text and hyperlinks scrolling through a chat client is all that large a drag on performanec. Not compared to teh hundreds of weapons being fired every second, and the need to track those effects, plus track every ship and render their movements.

Can't say how Jita Local is right now, but I expect that by the time I connect tonight, it'll be pretty much as it was last night.

Confirming that VFK Local can give Jita Local a run for the money.

I was there last night with a tdi of 25-30% 1900ish in local and the WT's hammering away at each other

tdi is just strange, sideways warping... 2 minutes from perimeter gate to S6

oddly there were several very fast moving objects, I'm assuming it's due to load lag and the ships are double timing it to where they belong on grid

undocking from S6 resulted in almost instant loading of the bulk of active ships, but in most cases the station didn't load for a minute or two after undocking, that was lulsy

of course it appears tdi and gcc don't play together well and people are getting 'corded for no reason

the ninja scene is ludicrous, every wreck instantly has 20 tractors, salvagers as well as a flurry of frigs
quite astonishing

I did manage to clear out a wreck as it tractored past me :P

all in all it's a pretty strange and exciting environment

also the jita spambots were seemingly unaffected

Yes, the Tornado teams have been moving about outside of Jita. There are freighters in systems around Jita, less so in Jita itself, so they are able to hunt without TiDi.

Still, kudos to CCP's server work and the other magic that keeps the hamsters going.

Yup. Was surreal, in the true meaning of the word.I think I would have had to have been drunk or stoned, to get the full effect, though.

Understatement of the month.

Pirate A couple Nocti parked right in the Undock, and were beaming like mad - you could hardly see 'em, for the crush of ships. Fast ninja salvers were darting about like seagulls at clambake, or pirhana to a bloody carcass: swarming anything that looked even remotely tasty. It was fun - I learned a few things, nailed a couple wrecks clean, got slices of some others. Speed and reflexes, and a couple other techniques I'm not sharing - i don't want any more (successful) competition than I had last night.
