dont DL new client. it WILL restart a patch process and it will "mess" up again.

1) off anti virus
2) off firewall (some may not need to do this
3) run the repair tool
4) it will tell you error encountered? yes ... re run it ... there is 1 instance i have to do it for OVER 30 times
5) goto CCP EVE BIN folder, run evefile.exe .... error reply = not fully repaired .... runs = bingo

RINSE n REPEAT step 3 n 4 n 5

Tried this, resulted in hanging evefile.exe.

Only fix for me is to download the manual install client then works fine.

well I was gonna point out the minor problem I was having with the launcher but it seems a lot of people are having major issues with the launcher.

My problem was the launcher tries to update then fails then tries to repair and fails at that too, Yet I go into the Eve folder and manually activate Repair and get it to work I think part of the issue that is not being looked at is it is not calling for the right levels of access to the folder seeing windows tries to lock the program files folder tight to keep a lot of accidents from happening has anyone tried launching it as an Admin?

let me know if that helps at all just incase my Repair program craps out on me like it seems to on a few others here

I am encountering multiple issue here, when will CCP fix this launcher crap issue. I find that I have to run repair tool many time each day with different error messages. It will suddenly work and login successfully but the next day, it will screw up again.

I am considering to cancel my account now. I want to play the game, not to troubleshoot the game. I can live with bug in game but bug that cannot even start the game is frustrating.

For the record, I search this forum and google for the solution but sometime the fix work for today but tomorrow fail again!

I even follow the advice to re-download the entire client and reinstall just to find that the freshly installed EvE has the error too to start! OMG.

and as i was saying ....

well unfortunately my other play copy update is unsuccesful (launcher jams at certain % ...)

both my play copies uses different ISP, both uses same AV and other programs, etc

so it does seem CCP server have certain compatibility problems in resolving data packets with specific ISP?

and this 2nd copy of EVE i am now using the repair runs to slowly get it to a full patch ... which is sad ...

using the repair method ...

1) repair run #1, failed error
2) step 1 run for 3-4 times
3) random test run of evefile.exe, error
4) right after evefile run error, repair ran well and repaired 100%

so CCP, why is there such an error? (its ok, i am not expecting a reply, and dun bother doing it 2 weeks later)

i am not going to petition because the last petition took you guys more than 2 weeks to reply, and the person who replied said "the problem you described is currently outdated because of a new patch that overides the problem ... (something along this tune)" ... WOW ... i cant imagine waiting 2 weeks to hear that reply ...

no thank you CCP

While the launcher is still screwy, it appears that the repair tool sort of works. Just keep running it over and over until you can log in. That has worked for me three times now. The last time I had to run the tool 11 times.Pain in the ass, but you will eventually be able to play the game.

well it seems somehow the launcher or the way it "tunnels" data ... kind of favors certain ISP in certain ways ... i have 2 groups of coms and both on diff ISP. on certain patches, both grps do not update successfully. on the current patches, 1 of them launches well, but the other have to use the manual repair rinse n repeat method.

weird isnt it? lol

KK, I used the method you mentioned previously and annoying as it is I eventually get the client running. Today I only had to run repair and Eveexe.exe alternatively 6 times (each that is) to finally get the client to run. I think that may be a record low number of times since the launcher came onto the scene.

Note: I don't turn any of my running programs such as Antivirus off as I don't see why I should have to. So it's, run launcher, corruption, then run repair & run exe file, rinse and repeat the repair/exe until the client launches.

I stopped doing just the repair as sometimes it says 100% completed ok but client still didn't run..I ran repair again and it fixed more crap and so on.

I can confirm this.

If it get's stuck at 15%, I just taskmanager launcher.exe, and run it again. I keep repeating this until I beat it into submission (or a pulpy paste) and it will eventually download the patch. Not sure if is server side loading issues or what, but if it fails, kill, and restart, and it should work.

New update and:
C:/Programm Files/CCP/EVE/launcher/launcher.exe

The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computers system information to see whether you need an x86 (32 bit) or x64 (64 bit) version....

I got exactly the same message, i.e., "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher"

Tried to run the repairer few times. The launcher will re-download the patches and then got the message above. Re-run the repairer few times and then the launcher will re-download the patches again... this will go on and on... in loops...

Give up. Seems like CCP always messed up the patching.

P.S. I have two different computers. Both are encountering the same problem - so No it is not just with one computer.

CCP you are for shooting on the wall ! and deserved to be poded!

Next time think about

To save all personal setting for EVERY player on YOUR server - overview setting, fittings, layout ect ect ect ect

After that you can Fail for every new patch, because the only thing that we are gone to lose is the time to download the full client which is much better!!!

My FIX

1. Copy for any case Cache and Settings directories somewhere (these directories are in C:\User\...........AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\tranquility)

2. Uninstall the client. At the end of the process you will be asked to Remove cache and setting! Uncheck the box - in this case you will save them. If you remove them you already have them from step 1

3. Download and start the Installer. Install the game in the SAME directory as the old one client. Start downloading and wait 1 EON time to download it! (in my case was fast cuz I'm downloading with 3.0 MB per sec - I love my ISP)

4. Start the game and everything must be fine.

4.1 If your settings are not there - exit game, copy Settings and Cache in the same location C:\User\...........AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\tranquility

5. If not working - You must blame CCP

5.1 If still not working - wants your money back. If they don't give it - camp their office.
