In another thread someone asks for the ability to buy skillpoints, and most everyone is against it- as they should be.

However, I was thinking that perhaps it wouldn't be a bad idea to be able to purchase some skill points, but only what your character could possibly have.

Meaning, for those people (like myself!) who didn't understand the importance of implants the first couple of months playing the game. Technically I should have more sp than I do.

I would love to be able to somehow be able to buy the SP I would have had if I had started the game off knowing what I know now.

Know what I mean?

Um... no.

You're asking for every character to wind up with the benefits of having the best implants without having to put the time in in training (or the isk investment)... simply buy their way there. Remember, implants go away when you get podded, so you're taking the risk completely out of it as well.

Six months in the hole... it changes a man.

Determining "how many skill points you should have now" is the problem.

Remaps, what you trained while remapped, implants (not to mention which implants), etc all play an important part in how many skill points your character has overall. Determining the number of skill points your character could potentially have just isn't feasible because of the number of variables involved.

Put another way, your character has exactly the number of skill points your character should have based on the length of time spent training the skills you trained with the implants you installed and the attribute remap you selected.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

Ummm, wow. So you're saying that i should have my 12 first drakes back that i lost when i first starting flying them cause i didn't know how to fly them ? (didn't know then what i do now).

It's part of the game. It is what makes players better than others. Who researched the most, who put in the most time, who ask for help and advice to most etc.

All the players of eve woulda, shoulda, coulda had something better but don't because they made mistakes along the way.

Your idea would take away all the learning experience that comes with eve.

No I'm not saying that at all.

This is the 'features & ideasdiscussion' board. It was an idea. It was discussed.

I just think it's a better idea to have the option of allowing to buy only what our characters could possibly have versus unlimited skill points. I just have a really bad feeling that it's headed that way based on the whole monocle fiasco and with the rumors that CCP is needing money.

But no worries, I'm not passionate about this what-so-ever.

If you wish "possibly" earned skillpoints; can I have than:

- "possibly" earned standings ans LP's
- "possibly" earned ISK
- "possibly" not destroyed ships
- "possibly" take over 0.0
- "possibly" whatever ...

There are plenty of possibilities in Eve. And to be able to buy some of them is not a good idea as it maybe looks at the beginning.
Unfortunately I can not support your idea. The whole SP (or another purchaseable advantage) theme would no be acceptet from many players in EvE.

The ability to buy advantages do not fit into a game with subscribtion. Free to play .. OK.. But not with the current EvE with subscribtion fee.

Yes... this IS the "Features and Ideas" forum... also known as "the place where ideas go to die." Twisted

I like you Shalee... but ANY and ALL efforts that so much as smack of "buying SP" don't sit well with me and will never get my vote.
