It's not internet slang. It's laziness.
It originally came out for SMS messaging because the allowed characters were 250-300 max.
Lazy internet fools later turned it into "internet slang" because they are lazy or just that ignorant.

Mm its a bit older then our venerable SMS messaging. Lets go back, way back to the days of rampant AOL "Free hours" CDs and the birth of instant messaging services. Days when an internet connection was still preceded by horrible screeching noises. Internet slang can be traced back to the origin of the "LOL" comment followed closely by the "ROFLMAO." The days of "ping pong" messaging were still a gleam in a developers eye when this crap was born. Since then we have steadily degenerated as a species and our care for writing has almost completely withered away. I speak to you today as a total and complete hypocrite. I am almost as guilty of this as half the people on the planet. hehe

The debate on using slang and phoenetically(did i spell that right?) spelled words on internet chat thingies is for elsewhere i believe.
I loved chopper command for my wood paneled atari 2600 back in 1980.

*munches popcorn* wow, this is pretty good. The only time I've ran into holeysheet1 was in Hek... he was slam faced down drunk and ranting about something crazy to do with killing people in real life if they touched his kid. I left the system, flew down to Amarr and took care of some stuff down there, flew back through Hek and he was STILL ranting about the same subject, just even more incoherently.

Personally.... I think he is extremely entertaining in a 'watch the poor unfortunate skidrow bum fall repeatedly on his face' kinda way.
